Vandy w/ 20k/year, Wash u w/35k a year, or emory w/8k a year keeping in mind a possible premed/business track....
thx!

pumkinmuffin, this seems like a no-brainer to me! WashU! WashU has a fabulous pre-med program, has the #3 ranked med school in the country AND makes it very easy for you to double major or minor in the undergrad business school (Olin). On top of it all, they are offering you the most financial aid! What specifically are your concerns or issues with this decision?

well.i visited wash u and i felt like it was really boring...I know thats such a terrible reason to turn down a school but its also st. louis. but this is true, thx for ur input

pumpkin, if you are planning to double major pre-med and business, you won't have time to be bored, not even have time to hard play either.

Don't underestimate St. Louis. No, it's not Chicago or New York, but there is lots going on for four years of college. The reality is that most kids spend the vast majority of their time on campus. WashU's campus is beautiful and there is alot going on right around the school-- the Loop, Forest Park, the Museums, the Central West End...etc. Every Thursday night, there are buses taking the kids to clubs.

pumpkin, if you visited and did not feel comfortable, you should listen to that feeling. We had the opposite reaction to Wash U, in fact we were awed and inspired walking around. But that is why you visit, each person will react differently. If you had a more positive experience elsewhere, I would go there. If you found all three boring, then maybe you need to re-think your visits.

I'm saying this as someone who is going to WashU next year. Go to Emory. It's a fantastic school, and though WashU's reputation might be slightly better it's not that significant of a difference. You'll get an amazing education in a great city, and you'll be able to save your money for medical or business school.

EDIT: Wait, wait, unless you meant that those money figures were how much scholarship you were getting rather than the total cost to go. In that case definitely go to WashU.

kindofblue: great point; now I'm not sure which the OP meant either.......Totally agree that he/she should go to the school where they got the most money...So little significant difference between the three IMO(especially since it doesn't appear that Op visited all of them....)

If you didn't like it at WashU, don't go just because you got more money. It's not worth being miserable for 4 years just because of a financial obstacle. You can always call Vanderbilt or Emory and tell them of this situation, and they might give you more financial aid. I know WashU does that.

ya sorry i guess i should clear that up i meant that was the scholarship money that i got. oops
and kindofblue, did you chose wash u over emory? if so, why?

Well regardless of why you got the money, the fact is still that you would have to pay less to go to WashU than to Emory or Vanderbilt. This is good enough of a reason to get more money from Emory or Vanderbilt.

I did not apply to Emory, but I did choose WashU over Vanderbilt. I felt the school had stronger academics, I liked the people I met there more, I like St. Louis far better than I like Nashville, the school was just nicer overall, and I really just felt like it was the perfect school for me.
