I have been accepted to

Northeastern
Univ. Rhode Island
St. john's
Albany College of Pharmacy

Which one would you chose?

I like Northeastern the best, but it is the most expensive.
And I live only 15 miles from Albany Pharmacy, so I could commute if I had to.

any thoughts?

Northeastern is good...you can also get an MBA along with a pharm D in 6 years.

How did you hear back from st. john's already? I applied to their Pharm program and was told that we hear back march 15th

Well, if you like NEU the best....I guess the real question is, how big of an issue is the cost? Could you afford NEU without accumulating crushing debt?

Well considering she is gonna be a pharmacist and this is a 0-6 program meaning she is basically into grad school, she can afford to take on a quite bit of debt that she shouldnt have as big of a problem paying off witha starting salary around 90k :)

From what I know about these schools (researching online & talking to people in the field), they all seem to be pretty good. My daughter is considering these same schools, so if you don't mind me asking... is there a big difference in the cost? Did they give you any merit money? Why do you like Northeastern the best?

NEU has a great location and superb academics. Seems like the best choice to me. If NEU has co-ops for pharm majors, that might be a big draw, too!

NEU is in a great loction, right in the City of Boston but still has a campus feel & Co-Op seems like a plus. Large school with a lot of activities and choices.

They gave me a Prelim. financial package of $26,000 per year for 4 years, which included $5000 in loans that would have to be paid back. (so $19,000 free) Tuition, room & board is about $46,000.

Albany College of Pharm gave me $12,000 (all free) a year for all 6-years (need to maintain a 3.2 gpa). Tuition, room & board $28,000.

But its a small school with limited choices outside of healthcare field and limited activities.

Do be aware that Albany COP is currently under probation by the ACPE for losing too many students from its entering class. That's the case with any 0-6 high school program - the attrition rates are atrociously high and a lot of people lose a lot of time and money out of a program without realizing what they're truly in for.
