I read it somewhere that some schools are “famous” for grade deflation and with GPA being critical for Med School Admissions, I would like to see advice on which schools are “famous” for grade deflation and which ones are “famous” for grade inflation. Thank you for your advice.
@joeman2012 -Sorry I didn’t get to this question yesterday. If you Google “Colleges with grade inflation” you will find many (and sometimes conflicting) conjectures of which colleges churn out the most “A” students. But, because the schools that top these lists are typically the ones that enroll the most students who never earned any grade below an “A” in high school, we have to wonder if the college profs themselves are inflating grades or if it’s actually the STUDENTS who will stay up all night to make sure they never slip below a 4.0 (or if they’re so brilliant to begin with that they don’t have to!).
But despite what Google (or the grapevine) may tell you, the “Easy A” in a class (or the Impossible A) is more typically dependent on who is teaching that class than on the institution overall. And if a college IS known for inflating grades, the med school admission officials are likely to be aware of this and will evaluate a candidate accordingly.
