Hi,
I am a transfer who is deciding on a school right now. These are school/programs that I am admitted to:
UC Berkeley Pre-Economics
UCLA Pre-Business Economics
UCI Business Administration
USC Business Administration

I am leaning towards USC or UCI because I want more of the Business direction and plus it is not pre-major status. I would have applied for business at Berkeley, but missed a pre-req for Haas so I applied as Econ to at least give me the option of attending Berkeley.

Please give your best inputs on which you think is best and a small explanation why.

Thanks!

Are you a junior transfer or a sophomore transfer?

@FateGoneAwry16 I’m a junior transfer

I’d say your two best choices are UCB and USC. You basically have to decide whether you want to study econ or business, as UCB econ and USC business are fairly different programs. After that, you just have to see which school is a better fit. Both schools have good recruiting, so don’t let job opportunities be a major factor in your decision.

@FateGoneAwry16: Do you think UCI’s program is not that great, or are UCB and USC simply better programs?

Haas and Marshall are stellar programs. UCI… not so much

Is anybody able to elaborate on getting past pre-major status at UCLA and UC Berkeley? That is a major concern of mine, I know opportunities will be great at both, but I do not want to be shut out if I do not make into the actual major.

You need to send your questions to the UCLA and UCB admissions offices. They can give you the most authoritative information on how to “get past” pre-major status.
