Which prompt do colleges read first?

Hear me out: The UCs have two prompts. I explained an experience/circumstance in #1 and now I want to tie examples from #1 into #2. The examples I'm using would be unclear if the officer has NOT read #1 first.

Is it ok to do this?

Thanks.

I’m pretty sure that will work out okay. Just make sure not to be repetitive between the two. You have an opportunity to show different aspects of yourself.

I wonder, if you need to link them, whether your second essay does offer them fresh, additional perspective about you.

don’t. they need to be separate.

I think it’s okay to allude to one of your essays in another essay, but it still needs to come across well if the allusion isn’t understood.

That seems a remarkably unwise thing to do. What you’re doing is giving yourself a 50/50 chance of having successful essays: they’ll succeed if the reader reads them in the order you need her to, and they’ll fail if she doesn’t.

And think about it . . . why should she (or he) read them “in order”? Maybe with half the app’s, she reads essay #1 first . . . and with the other half, reads essay #2 first. Do you really want to take that chance???

Ok thanks guys, I’ll steer clear of that then.
