Most of my colleges have already seen my mid-year grades, so for increasing my chances at getting of a waitlist, would I send my 3rd or 4th quarter (final) grades? My school technically has grading periods by semester, so 2nd semester (4th quarter) would be the official transcript but that’s in mid June.
I ask because I’ve been sick and out of school for much of 3rd quarter and my grades are looking pretty bad, while I emphasized an upward trend in my application.
If you don’t have to send in your 3rd quarter grades, then don’t.
4th quarter would be too late…I think they would start letting people in off the waitlist after May 1.
Also, look at the “Common Data Set” for your college. See how many people get off the wait list…it may be better to focus your energy into schools you actually were admitted to.
I see, thank you. I read that some people can get waitlist notifications very late, even after June. Do the majority of waitlist decisions happen after that?
So far, I’ve been waitlisted at UCLA and UC Davis and I can’t seem to find their WL stats but I believe they’re very low. I might be getting other waitlists though, and quarter is ending soon – so if 3rd quarter is the one that counts I may have to try to reschedule make-up work that teachers wanted to do next quarter.
