Which SAT Subject Tests for an Economics Major?

Hit here!

I was wondering which SAT subject tests are recommended/required for the aforementioned major.

I will be aiming for the Ivy League... It seems I couldn't find any required subject tests for specifically the economics major?

I will definitely be taking Math Level 2, but I am not sure if I should take a World History subject test.

Econ is not a major that will require ANY SAT2 subject test. Indeed, very few colleges require one. You should check w/the individual college on their subj test needs. e.g. Yale College (not the Yale economics dept) will take SAT & 2 subj tests or the ACT w/Writing.

Ivy league schools typically require SAT subject tests regardless of your major. Really any test will do. Take the test in whichever subject you feel most comfortable in. Since there isn’t an Econ SAT Subject Test you aren’t bound by the same restriction that STEM majors are.
I would recommend that you take the AP Micro and Macro tests as well if you haven’t taken them -or signed up for them- already.

Other than math, none of the SAT subject tests is specifically applicable to the economics major. So take math and whatever else you will do well in.

Not really. Only 3ish out of the 8.

Harvard, Dartmouth and Princeton require 2 subj tests. Some individual Cornell schools require Subj tests.

Brown, Yale, Columbia, Penn will take the ACT & Writing in lieu of SAT1 & subj tests.

There are only a dozen or so schools require SAT2 if one submit ACT scores. Nevertheless, most top schools require or recommend SAT2 scores with SAT. For those competitive schools, one should treat any “recommended” as “required”.

I’d say one math and another related to humanities.
Math 2 - US History. Economics is related to politics and other social sciences.

World history is better but you should take the one you think you ll get better score.

The original poster asked the question 2 years ago. I’ll assume that the decision has been made at this point. Old threads should be used for research, but should not be revived. Closing thread.
