I'm entering junior year and I'd like to have take 3 SATIIs by the time I apply to college. I'm definitely doing with Math 2; I've finished Precalculus last year and I don't think I'll have many problems with that.

My options for the other two:
Chinese - I'm ethnically Chinese, I speak Mandarin fluently and I just got back from three months vacation in China. I'm illiterate, though.
Spanish - I've taken 3 years of honors Spanish, entering Spanish 4. Though I've heard this test is near impossible?
Latin - I'm hopefully taking level 2 next year. Don't know much about this test.
Literature - Know nothing about this test.
US History - Hopefully taking AP US.
Chemistry - Also hopeful in taking the AP class.

So which would seem like a good combination for me? I'm especially curious about the language options. Thanks!

i took the bio molecular , math II, and u.s history and i was in the same situation as you. I finished precalc soph year and got a 800 on the test. I took ap bio junior year and got a 760 (similar to ur chem ) and i took ap us history and got a 800 . If i were u, i would take history (easy test), chem (ap prepares u well ) and math (just to ace it :)

It is quite easy to take the SATIIs at the same time as the APs - the testing date is usually the weekend between the two AP weeks. Studying for AP will usually be enough, so I agree - take Chem and USH.

I would suggest you take Math2 at an earlier date. That way you can study for it, and get it out of the way. It will make for an easier day on that May SAT date.

I don't think I can self-study... so far I'm signed up for 6 APs and two languages and adding independent study would be too much for me. I'm already really concerned about taking AP Lit as a junior...

Math 2-be aware though, I saw some calculus type problems on the test (Riemann sums I think? or maybe that is in
precalc)

I took Bio E (NO studying at all, zero, nada, I hadn't taken biology since sophomore year and I was a senior then...) and scored a 700 on it. It was so easy, or that particular test was.

I also took World Hist. I just crammed for 1 week and got a 760 or 780 I don't remember. I think if you're looking into languages, taking your native language is OK. I'd try Spanish, if you have somewhat extensive experience with that...

Hey, if you want to take the Literature test, AP Lit as a junior is super-convenient. I took it, and pulled a 750, but I was a little confused trying to choose the best meaning of a sonnet line when I was used to doing rhetorical purpose and stuff. Ugh.

I didn't think a lot of people took Lit, at least I haven't read many mentions in looking at people's "stats". But colleges don't really judge which SATIIs you take as long as you take enough, right?

I would take Chinese, but I'm afraid for the reading portion. Isn't there a portion with just the characters and no phonetic spelling? I hear the curve is pretty generous, though.

I've heard awful things about the Spanish test... is it really that bad? I can't imagine how the curve can be thrown off so much.

SAT II helping your major are obviously nicer than SAT II not related to your major, but I don't believe it really matters all that much. If you're undecided major just take whatever you want..800s on easy tests are better than 600s on hard tests, in my opinion

I don't know about the curve for Chinese, but yes, I do think there is a part where you have to read and translate.

Why do you think the curve is so bad, think about how many people take the Spanish test who are native Spanish speakers.
