I'm a high school senior and I'm having a tough time choosing my school for Electrical Engineering. I've gotten accepted to Manhattan College, Drexel University, and Binghamton University. Binghamton seems to be the highest ranked school, but not in the field of engineering. What are some opinions on these schools' engineering programs?

all three engineering programs are accredited. since you’re going to make about the same amount of money coming out of any of these schools, go to the least expensive school that still offers internship possibilities and close contact with the professors and industry. so what do your financial aid packages and/or net price calculators tell you about what yours and your family’s costs to attend will be after the grants and merit and including the loans you’ll have to take. what are the costs to you for each?

I have not received financial aid/scholarships for all schools yet, but in order of price Drexel > Manhattan > Binghamton, as of now.

yeah, we want to know the differences in price, as in is 6K per year more reasonable for YOU to spend in order to go to X rather than Y. can you help us with that? what are the differences in total price for each school?

I found my first years costs at each school. Binghamton : $15,525 Manhattan:$28,523 Drexel: $37,766.

if you don’t have a really good reason to dislike Binghamton, then you might want to look into their program and school more closely. It’s hard to take on 13K or 22K more per year (52K to 88K more in 4 years, plus inflation) to go to a school that’s no better nor worse than Binghamton. Companies won’t care where you went but what YOU did. Get a 3.7 in EE and a broad background in platforms and architectures and they’ll be knocking your door down no matter where you go. Work your butt off. Get internships. Work with your professors on their research. You’ll do very well no matter what.

Don’t overthink this. Binghamton may not be known for engineering, but as the top SUNY overall, they attract plenty of great employers for all fields. Assuming you like the school, it’s a good choice.
