Out of the schools: UCLA,UCSD, UCI, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO, UCSC, and SDSU

I want to live in the San Diego area after graduation and I want to major in business (marketing or accounting), or maybe psychology.
I want to go to a school with a good sports program and a school with school spirit.
I also want perfect weather (70 degrees year round), and for it to be close to the beach.
I want to go to a school with a good social life (party rep is fine with me).
I want to go to a laid back school where not everyone is competing for the highest grade in the class.

Opinions appreciated!!!!

SDSU is out!

If it weren't for the b-school curve I'd say USC is a perfect fit with all your preferences. So ya, why isn't it on your list?

$$$?? Maybe...haha.

311griff: how is sdsu out...

-I want to live in the San Diego area after graduation and I want to major in business (marketing or accounting), or maybe psychology.

their business program is nationally ranked, international business is #7 as well. and running into fellow alumni when applying for jobs in SD is easy to do.
-I want to go to a school with a good sports program and a school with school spirit.

their basketball team made march madness this year. their volleyball team has won multiple d1 championships, and their football team isnt bad.

-I also want perfect weather (70 degrees year round), and for it to be close to the beach.
san diego state has 70 degree weather and 5-10 minutes from beach.
-I want to go to a school with a good social life (party rep is fine with me).
ranked #4 party school by playboy magazine (need i say more?)

sdsu is a chillax environment.

dont know much about santa cruz but ucsb looks like a great match for you (except the sports part), and UCLA seems like a decent/good match in all the categories

SDSU is pretty sad at sports actually, at least if you compare them to the other teams in the MWC.

Thanks for the comments.....

After thinking about it and listening to your opinions I have ranked the schools myself (hopefully i still like them all when apply)

UCSB - I've visited the school and I loved it, and I could see myself going there.

SDSU - I really like SDSU for some reason, it may just be my favorite.

UCSD - Location is perfect and academics are great, but don't know if I could be happy at a D2 and dull school.

UCI - Seems like an okay match, but there is something I just don't like.

Cal Poly - Okay, but when i visited the school i hated the campus and didn't really like the school itself, and i just don't know if i'll even apply

UCSC - D3 (that sucks), too many weirdos/hippies...i personally don't think i would like it.

UCLA would be near the top, but i don't think i will get in, and if I did that would create the hardest decision for me ever...(UCLA vs. UCSB vs. SDSU)

And don't talk bad about SDSU, bc anything you say can't change my mind about the school.

311 Griff...

What are you talking about?? Our basketball team this year won the Mountain West Conference and played in the NCAA tournament....we also won the mountain west conference tournament!!!! Just about every game sold out. People around here are so misinformed, its ridiculous. Also our baseball team is one of the best in the nation, coached by Tony Gwynn. We just had a poor football year, but we had a top 25 recruiting class in football and should be looking pretty good next year.

A better argument for you would be... they might be sad compared to the ACC, which is purely a league composed of power house atheltic schools. I'd say we probably have the most school spirit in the entire MWC.

Yeah, how many times has this happened though...? In the history of the MWC (it's rather short, I know), SDSU has basically been an annual bottom, or close to bottom, dweller.

they were in the NCAA tournament 3 years ago. so 2 out of 5 years isn't bad?

It's bad when you compare them to the MWC front runner who find it troubling if they miss 2 years in 5... the Utah Utes

I see that you live in Cali. Since you live in Cali I assume that it's not that difficult for you to visit the schools that you are interested in that are in your state, but I could be wrong. Have you used The U DVDs at all? I found them pretty helpful, I looked @ Stanford on there. Just a tip, hope this helped you cull out some of the colleges :).
