which school should i go to if I want to Transfer To Tech

Should I go to SPSU or UGA if I want to transfer to Tech after 1 year I am a comp sci major.

crap SPSU fafsa passed now i cant get academic scholarships does that mean I cant get zell miller?

Zell Miller doesn’t really have anything to do with fsfsa. However starting this year they are requiring you to fill out both the federal fin aid forms and the ga one. Go to gacollege411 and fill out the GA one. Also make sure and fill out the fed one. You can check your hope gpa on the site as well. As long as you meet the requirements you can get the zell miller or the hope.

It doesn’t matter. You could go to Georgia Perimeter if you’d like.

hmm which one would be better gpa wise

so ga tech only cares about gpa? if i am transferring

hmm i am doing comp sci major so i guess SPSU would be better hmm

It really doesn’t matter, Georgia Perimeter is the easiest school so you could probably get the highest GPA there. The only downside is, because it is so easy, you will have to be disciplined about mastering the material (especially math and maybe physics if you want to learn about devices). Don’t be satisfied with only getting an A.

On the other hand UGA is more fun.

GT has REPT. Georgia Tech offers the opportunity to transfer to Tech through the Regents’ Engineering Transfer Program (RETP). Through RETP, students enroll for their first two years of course work at one of the participating Georgia colleges and universities. I would think this would be the best way to get into GT. Neither UGA or SPSU offer RETP.
Here are the schools that GT has listed that currently have REPT:

:black_medium_small_square:Albany State University
:black_medium_small_square:Armstrong Atlantic State University
:black_medium_small_square:Atlanta Metropolitan College
:black_medium_small_square:Clayton State University
:black_medium_small_square:Columbus State University
:black_medium_small_square:Dalton State College
:black_medium_small_square:Georgia College & State University
:black_medium_small_square:Georgia Perimeter College
:black_medium_small_square:Georgia Southern University
:black_medium_small_square:Georgia Southwestern State University
:black_medium_small_square:Gordon College
:black_medium_small_square:Middle Georgia State College
:black_medium_small_square:Savannah State University
:black_medium_small_square:University of North Georgia
:black_medium_small_square:University of West Georgia
:black_medium_small_square:Valdosta State University

hmm but isnt RETP only for engineering. I am doing computer science and i am probably going to UGA now, not SPSU unless Ga tech accepts me from their waitlist

I’m an international applicant, I was planning to join Georgia Perimeter College for transfer purpose to Georgia Tech. Why are the community college not preferred academically and on a secured future aspect?
What all colleges will provide me with RETP facility?
But almost everybody advised me not to go for the community college, why is that so?

@aaharjain

The reason why everybody is advising you not to go to community college is because they don’t know what they’re talking about. There’s no reason not to go to Perimeter, it’s cheaper and easier, and Georgia Tech doesn’t care.

The only problem is that it might be too easy and you may get lazy and not learn the material as well as you should. My advise is to go into it with the attitude that you want to score the highest score in each of your classes, it’s not good enough to only get A’s. If you aim for mastery, you will leave Perimeter with a high GPA, a good understanding of the material, and some extra money in your bank account.

@aaharjain. Georgia perimeter has RETP. Just make sure you take the right classes and keep the GPA above what is needed.

I’m just wondering how much harder a transition from Georgia Perimeter would be over a transition from UGA to Tech. Sure, you can have an easier time getting a high GPA at GPC, but if you worked hard at UGA, wouldn’t it prepare you more for GT than GPC would? I think the end goal would be success at Tech, not just getting into Tech.
