Which schools for Computer Science? Help me choose

Hi, rising senior here and I’m trying to make my list of schools to apply to for Computer Science. I’m in California and prefer to stay here so I’m trying to base my list off that.

Here’s what I got so far:

  1. UC Berkeley
  2. UCLA
  3. USC
  4. UCSD
  5. UCI

As you can see these are pretty hard to get into(engineering department accept like 10% of applicants) so I’m trying to see which other schools I can use as my safeties which still have a decent CS program.

Other info:
Act: 31 currently(will raise it to 33-34)
UW gpa: 4.0
W gpa: 4.4~4.5
Ecs are plenty, currently doing an IT internship

Forgot to mention that costs aren’t an issue unless they exceed 60k a year.

Also I’m in the LA area so I prefer if schools are near LA.

Consider SJSU, SDSU, Cal Poly Pomona, UCSC and UCR.

You didn’t list Cal Poly SLO? May actually be harder to get into than Berkeley for CS.

Agree with above. Unless you will apply to EECS at UCB. I would add SCU.

SLO’s acceptance rate is around 10% so comparable to UCLA/UCB so definitely not a solid Match of Safety.
