Which schools have the same "vibe" as Wash U?

Hey,

In the 3 or so college tours I have done, I find myself loving Wash U more and more...not just the academics, but the way the campus feels...the vibe it gives off. I was wondering what other schools, regardless of academic reputation, have the same "vibe" as Wash U, as to shorten my campus-life criteria search.

i was about 10 seconds away from asking this myself
bump

Rice University

Rice , Duke, William & Mary, Georgetown, Northwestern

why do yall say that... is Wash U conservative?

To me, the WashU vibe is like that of an Ivy (strong academics) but with a student body that tends to be friendly and doesn't go ga-ga over sports. Brown is most similar, imo.

Washu is not conservative, but it's not ultra liberal either.

I think that the vibe at Washu is more relaxed than at Northwestern and the WU campus is more "bubble" like and less spread out, with all the fresh/soph dorms clustered on one end of campus, which contributes to an overall tight-knit feeling.

So look for an academically oriented (rather than sports) sense of community, generally collaborative rather than super competitive, nice bubble campus, big enough for variety yet not too big, four seasons none of which dominate, suburban but connected through mass transit to city life and easy air travel. Vibe-wise, I would look at smaller universities and larger LACs at various levels of selectivity. So maybe Colgate, Lafayette, Elon.

how are wash u and duke similiar?

strong privates, friendly student body, tight-knit underclassmen residential experience, decent weather, etc.

Hmmmnn... that sounds like Rice.

Except Dukies are bunch of IB wannabes

Rice, Colgate and Lafayette are all D1 sports schools, which makes a little bit of a difference. WashU is D3.
