Which schools to Submit both ACT and SAT because of one perfect math score

Here are my son’s ACT scores (35 math, 36 science, 35 Eng, 34 Reading), his first SAT was 1480 (800 Math and 690 English/Reading) and 2nd SAT 1510 (790 Math and 720 Eng/Reading). He will applying as Engineering major. Other stats: AP scores Physics 1 (5), Calc BC (5), Euro (5), World History (5), AP Lang (4), APush (4). 4.81 weighted/ 3.88 unweighted
He planned to only submit his ACT score but on a University of Michigan visit they were adamant that he also send his SAT score to show he got an 800. I was surprised that they felt the 800 was so important in comparison to the 35 Math ACT. I hate to show his SAT score because that is his lowest Eng/Reading score. Rep said that would not hurt him because of the higher ACT score. I feel skeptical. We are also now wondering which of the other schools he would benefit to send both scores or if available, self report both scores. Thinking in terms of both admissions and potential scholarships too.
These are the schools he is thinking of applying to:
Michigan
UIUC (in State)
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Duke
USC
Ohio State
Thanks for the advice!

https://secure-media.collegeboard.org/digitalServices/pdf/professionals/sat-score-use-practices-participating-institutions.pdf can let you know which schools super score (highest sections), which take the highest single sitting, and which require all scores, for the SAT.

It looks like most of the schools on the list super score.

However, his super scored SAT of 1520 as well as his single sittings of 1490 and 1510 have concordance with 34 ACT based on https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/ACT-SAT-Concordance-Tables.pdf , so it may not necessarily be any better than his 35 ACT, unless the 800 math really does help with admissions reading.

The official concordance maps a 35 Math to a 780. I doubt there would be any difference between sending just the ACT scores and sending all of both tests. Very few, if any, schools superscore between the tests.

I see no need to send the SAT scores. No college is going to turn up it’s nose at 35 in math. The ACT is stronger than the SAT.

I would just send the ACT score unless a school requires all tests.

Thank you for your replies. I agree that his ACT score is higher than the equivalent SAT. We were also very surprised that University of Michigan would so strongly stress to us that showing the perfect Math SAT score would somehow look so much better to them than the 35 Math ACT score. It sounds like all of you are also surprised by Michigan’s request.

I guess what I was wondering was if Michigan feels this way, what are the chances the other schools do too?

For the schools that allow self reporting, he gets to basically superscore his SAT and even though it is still lower than the ACT, he probably should submit it. He is mostly trying to decide what to do for the schools that don’t self report like MI, WI, Ohio State because then they will see his lowest English score.
