Which score is more useful to apply to colleges?

I got a 2360 on my SAT (800 CR & M, 760 W with an 8 on the essay) and a 36 on my ACT with a 7 on the essay. Which one is more appealing to colleges, particularly Ivy League colleges?

Can’t get better than perfect! Also I’ve heard 36s are rarer than 2400s.

Both are fabulous scores. Is the ACT essay graded on a 12 scale? I doubt either one will hurt you in any way. Can you send both?

I can send both, I think, but yes, the ACT essay is out of 12. I was curious if it would be a dark enough mark on the score to negate it. The 7 is below the 25th percentile of students at most, if not all Ivies.

Well, it’s not like there’s a huge difference between the ACT essay score and the SAT one - 1 point. I’m guessing you got a perfect MC on the SAT? What are you majoring in?

Really, I don’t think you should worry about it.

I’m hoping to get into UPenn for Finance or Harvard/Yale for Economics.

I got a near-perfect MC on the SAT, with one wrong answer on the writing MC.

I feel like I should mention on a previous SAT, I got a 10 on the writing, but missed more MC and so got the same score.

Stop worrying about tests. You’re done with them.

Focus on ECs, maintaining GPA, taking hard courses, and SAT II’s.

^^ you are good to go with those score. As James said, Focus on school and on your EC’s.

Regarding the statement in post #1 that 36 is more rare than 2400:

Okay, sorry ¯_(ツ)_/¯
