I am currently a senior and I have narrowed my major down to the following: economics, statistics, finance, mathematics, and computer science. I plan to double major in two of those listed. I feel I am equally interested in all of them, so which combination would be most beneficial as I look at careers? I have already taken AP classes in calculus, computer science, statistics, and economics(macro and micro). If it matters, I will likely attend the University of Minnesota or Madison.
It’s weird that you plan to double major when you don’t know what the majors will be. Having two majors isn’t inherently better than having one, and you should consider whether there’s a good reason before you double major. You won’t have as much time to take advanced electives that could help your career.
The only reason I said I plan to double major is because after looking at courses required for certain majors I realized I would be exempt from several credits. I figured adding a second major would then be easier and I would be a more attractive job candidate. I’ve also heard that pairing statistics with economics or computer science is logical.
As for careers, I am less certain, but possibly being an economist, actuary, or financial analyst of some sort?
