Which should I take credit for?

Due to the new AP Credit restrictions, I think I'm forced to choose between 4 classes to take credit for. The 4 classes are Bio 101, Psyc 101, Calc AB and Calc BC. However, I narrowed it down to 2. I'm taking credit for both Calc AB and BC, but I'm not using BC (I'm going to take a computer class instead) for my major. I'm going to be majoring in Psychology and planning on a pre-med track. So, which one should I retake? Psyc 101 or Bio 101? I'm on a pre-med track, so I figured that retaking Bio 101 would be beneficial for MCATs. However, I kind of don't want to skip out of the 1st class in my major... Also, I'm not too sure if Bio 101, Calc AB, and Calc BC count as major classes. They're listed specifically as a requirement, but I'm not too sure since they're not part of the psyc department. Thanks in advance for clearing things up.

I think you should be able to take credit for all of them, though I haven’t been to CTOPS yet so don’t take my word for it…

From the first year guide “No more than two courses (6 to 8 credit hours) of exam credit may be used as part of the core requirements • in any major.”
note the “core requirements” part

then from the psychology major worksheet at http://advising.unc.edu/new-curriculum-worksheets/PsychBS.pdf</a>
“18 hours C (not C-) required in major core: does not include PSYC 101.”

so my understanding of the new rules on exam credit is that you can get all the credit you want for the Approaches, Connections, and foundation classes… since they aren’t a part of the major’s core classes

anyway, if I’m wrong and you have to retake some classes, I’d retake whichever you think is easiest…relearning material you already know probably isn’t going to help you on the MCATs much…

as a med school hopeful, you want a high gpa, but a high science gpa in particular. the gpa for your science classes alone is important. that being said, why not take a class your freshman year that youve already learned about and helps your med school chances the most? the fact is, most people view psych as a ******** major and isnt considered a science by the university. a major in psych is pretty much worthless. now i sure you took that ap psych class and just loved it so its what you think you want, but thats a pretty typical story.

take credit for psych. i promise you that youll learn a lot more about biology in a biol101 class at carolina than you already do, itll be a refresher for the next 7-8 science classes you need for med school, itll boost your GPA, and youll be taking 3 hours that should be easy for you. and consider a real major while youre at it.
