Which sounds better to the colleges?

i want to do something over the summer so that the colleges that im going to apply are going to be impressed ......

Which one do you think is good-?

doing this program at stony brook-- SARAS 2008
and this astronomy program-- Kopernik Observatory & Science Education Center, Summer Science Institutes
OR
possibly doing a research with a professor.

OR

take a summer course (Pre-College for HS student) at NYU. NYU Summer 2009

Please forgive me for what I 've just said.Honestly, these programs/activities are actually what I really want to do,which I have passion to do.But really, this is the truth,I can't really just SOLELY follow my own interest.college application is coming.I really have to pick one that sounds the best to the admission officers.

Please don't get the wrong idea that I just do this for college admissions.
NO.I DON'T.

Ugh. These two lines say it all: “i want to do something over the summer so that the colleges that im going to apply are going to be impressed” and “I really have to pick one that sounds the best to the admission officers.”

I know that you stated at the end that you are interested in both, but to make the final decision you are deferring your power, and I am not even sure just how interested you are in either based on the second of the above statements. Do not pick a summer program because of how colleges might view it, but rather choose the one that you are most interested in doing.

And really, THIS is the real truth, you CAN just solely follow your own interests. I did throughout high school, and I got accepted into a few top schools.

The one that you want to do most and would with the most interest and passion is the one that would most impress colleges. Yes, that’s the truth.
