Which state do u want to live in when u grow up?

okay.
no thanks. :)
(i'll take your word, i guess you cant hear it when its your own accent, but i'll say again, new yorkers don't say woitah, coiffee, or any of that other strange business!)

I want to eventual settle back on the west coast the northwest in particular probably seattle, portland, or san francisco. Got my three favorite states covered!

film - yeah, they do, you might not, not all of them do, but I've been to NYC and after living in the south most of my life it makes you snap your head around and gape. Also New Yorkers say New Yauk.
Here's a sure fire way to tell if you have a yankee accent: say New Orleans.
If you say it "noo orleens" then your a yankee or a city-slicker (or from CA).
If you say something like "n' auwlins" then you're Southern.

I want to live in Charleston, SC without a doubt. It is the most beautiful city in the world IMO.

I dont want to live in a state. I either want to live in spain, portugal, japan, or england.

I like New York, but I wouldnt mind Illinois (only around Chicago), New Jersey, Virignia/ North Carolina, or California

clsoar, i said noo auwlins... imma transplanted ny'er in miami

i want to attend the university of chicago law school, so illinois is my first choice. i swear i'm still in love with that school.

lh0pitalrules - that's cheating........I think.

i used to say noo orleens when i was younger, but I realized I was pronouncing it completely wrong and had to change my ways. ;)

The best state. :)

Besides, it's a great state for biologists.

Effulgent, I am from Connecticut, a born-and-bred New Englander who has spent more than her share of time deep in Yankee accent country, and I have never in my life heard anyone say "woitah" or "coiffee." If anything, it would be "wahtah"/"wahter" or "cawfee." Your description's just bizarre.

I like home, personally. I'm happy here. I do, however, like the Putnam/Dutchess County area of New York, western Massachusetts around Northampton and the Berkshires, and southern Maine. My father's a Vermonter, and I used to think I wanted to live up there, but I don't think so now. I don't imagine I'll be going far. Anywhere in northern Connecticut, especially northeastern, is a great fit for me.

I dunno, beginning. I have some people from Boston over right now, and they definitely say "coiffee." I think you're thinking of the same accent when you mean "cawfee" and "wahtah." I put the "oi" in there because that's the closest spelling I could think of. It's like a "wah" and "woi" hybrid.

I met this guy during basic who had a Boston accent. It was real hard not to laugh when he said, "Pass the wahtah" I thought it sounds cool. He said only people from certain parts of Boston have his accent.

Georgia, Atlanta specifically.

lol, clsoar. During an orientation dinner, the people at my table wanted to know what chitlins and grits are (they weren't serving them, btw). :D

canada....yes I said it....No getting involved in big world issues, because nobody cares if Canada does this or that....I could live peacefully in Toronto and feel good. I like thw snow anyway, so hopefully I could go there.

philadelpia or new york city

getting out of this small town

I 've always dreamt of living in Newfoundland, it's a really small place but I've fallen in love with it!

In New england they use the term Yankee to mean an old money "WASP" (or Brahmin).....as opposed to "any northerner" the way they use the term in the south. I guess a yankee accent means a Boston accent altho there are slightly different accents in New England. My Rhode Island relatives have a weird cross between a Brooklyn accent and a Boston accent.
