I live in Charlotte NC which is a very nice, industrialized part of NC but I want to go to Columbia university in NY so bad. A lot of friends want to go to chapel hill or wake or app state but I could never imagine living in NC my entire life. Would you rather stay close to home or go to college far away?

I live in SC. I’m going to school in Cali. Never been more excited! 8)

That’s funny. One of the main reasons (top 3) I’m going to college is to get out of my state.

I would love to stay in Texas. Money is an issue for us, so getting accepted into UT with in state tuition would be a blessing. I’ve also only lived here for 6 years.

Home state is Illinois. Currently only looking at coastal schools (New England and NorCal mostly), but the only school I’d probably be willing to stay in IL for is UChicago.

I’m staying in NC to go to Appalachian State. It’s a combination of in-state tuition and I just love App.

I live in Florida. There is not a chance an h*ll that I’m staying in this awful state. We have no good schools. The education system here sucks. Plus I hate the lack of seasons here. I want to move to the northeast. I’d love to live close to home, but I HATE where I live. -_-

I really love NC, so I will probably stay here. Unless, some school really wants me and offers me everything in their budget to get me there. jk jk But, I will consider going out of state to see what other parts of the country are like.

^I have similar reasons.
I love MD and am close with my family… but at the same time I’d really like to experience other parts of the country. Not to mention my favorite schools are outside of my state.

I live in florida, i plan on going to med school. So i will probably go to Undergrad here and then try to go out of state for med school (Dream is Johns Hopkins)

HAHA, UConn? Don’t think so.

@dfree

About 1/5 of the seniors go to UConn each year (1/4 of my school goes to a 4year uni), so whenever I say I have NO interest in going, everyone always responds with, “WAT?!”

Yeah, but I still wouldn’t want to live in this awful state any longer than I have to. :/

I don’t have a state, but I’ve ruled out most on the basis that “they’re too far in-land” or “there’s no snow”.

I live on mars. So what are you taking about?

Pigfarts. 10

@lldm21 - wow, those are some unfortunate numbers. According to my school’s naviance, only 12/~200 seniors attended UConn last year… although 70 applied and 51 were accepted.

yeah i wanna stay in california (specifically the bay area) for college because it’s turned out rather coincidentally i guess that this is where a lot of activity surrounding some of my academic interests are centered.

I’m not sure if i will take advantage of the coincidence or not in the near future - but going to college somewhere far away would nearly eliminate that possibility.

@retro, 10 points to Gryffindor for that.
Back to the topic, I wouldn’t mind saying in New York because i plan on studying abroad, so being here for one year and then leaving would be fine. It’s just finding the college that has everything that I want, that’s the hard part.

Hah, yes! Someone understands the reference I like you.
