Which SUNY??

Hi everyone!

I have received so much help from CC but now I'm once again asking for help!

I am having a hard time choosing between the SUNYs. As of right now I got accepted into Buffalo and waiting on Albany, Stony Brook, Old Westbury and Geneseo.

Since I am planning on majoring in Biology or Biomedical Sciences and ultimately hoping to go to Med School, I really want a school where I can engage in a lot of research/ internship/ shadowing etc opportunities. At the same time I would like a school where I can manage a good GPA for Med school.
But on top of everything I'm really looking for great advising and prep for the MCATs and Med school admissions.

I guess I'm asking for a lot but....its just that I was homeschooled and moved around a lot so I don't have the knowledge about the schools....

I would really appreciate all the help I can get!!

I have a friend at Stony Brook who is a Bio major and she is very impressed with their science program and especially the facilities. I think if you get in there you should definitely seriously consider it. If you want me to ask my friend any other questions about her program, let me know!

Stony Brook has a very good biology program especially if you are interested in pre-med. Buffalo is also an soild choice due to their many health programs. However, some people like geneseo for the small class sizes and the undergraduate focus so that might be a better fit for you. I would visit all the campuses.

I would not recommend Albany though because lately it seems to attract a lot of less academically inclined students who are drawn to the “party school” name. It also has a lot of issues with campus safety and large class sizes. I don’t know much about old westbury so I can’t help you there. Good luck.

I received my acceptance letter to Stony Brook today and I’m definite now that I want to attend Stony Brook. Its just that I’m a transfer and I’m worried that there are less opportunities for me… I would want to get involved in a lot of volunteering and shadowing experiences not to mention research , @atribecalledbeck , Would you please ask your friend if there are opportunities even for transfers??

I seriously appreciate all your help! Both @atribecalledbeck and @sprinkles12
