Which teacher to ask for rec?

I currently have one AP English course teacher(also my Lit teacher) writing rec for me. However, I haven't pinned another teacher, and is dying to make up my mind.
The chemistry teacher that was gonna write it for me quit at the last second, that left me with 3 choices:
1) My Honors English teacher, who taught us in 10th grade, and is currently teaching us AP USH. I did well on his Honors class, performed good on his USH course, and he is familiar with me. However, the USH class is just getting started, and the main way he got to know me is through the English course. I'm a little bit worried if two English teachers' rec would be repetitive and doesn't look good on my application.
2) My Chinese Literature teacher (I am a Chinese student). I did good on her course, and she kind of knows me. On the other hand, if I go to her, I may not be able to catch the EA deadline by Nov 1. The rec have to go through an official translate process, that might stall the turn in process. Also, a Chinese Lit teacher is also kind of a repetition of what I currently have, I'm seriously worried about that. (But not as repetitive as my first choice maybe, at least they teach two different languages)
3) My Maths teacher who taught us in grade 10 for a year, he is a Chinese, and is not familiar with the application process nor quite so with me. I might have to give him a resume if I ask for a rec. The bright side is that he is a Science teacher, that probably could reflect a different aspect of my academics. (I'm not THAT good at Maths, but did worked my grade up during his course)

Please tell me what you think ;) Thank you!

If the chem teacher is reachable and you think that teacher knows you the best, there is no reason not to ask him or her for a rec, even if they are no longer at the school.

If you can’t reach them, then pick among the remaining options the teacher who knows you best and is likely to write the strongest rec. That rules out the Math and Chinese teacher. Sounds like the AP USH teacher is the obvious choice of those remaining. In an ideal world, it would be nice to have rave recs from two entirely different areas - but given a choice between good recs from two teachers in the same area vs. a mediocre rec from someone in a different area, it an easy choice. You want the two good recs.

Thank you! I was SO worried that two English teachers’ recs would suggest I’m single-faceted at academics. But of course, a good one always makes more sense than a mediocre. Thanks again!

I recommend asking your APUSH/English teacher and then saying on the common app when you sign them up that it’s your history (or “social studies,” as they have it on there) teacher. That’ll make your recs more diverse, and you’ll have two great recs (:
Good luck!
