My son is trying to decide between Stevens and RPI. He's probably majoring in Engineering Management or Industrial Engineering/Management. What are the pros and cons for these schools? If he attend RPI, he wants to play football. They both offered him scholarship, but Stevens awarded him $6,000 more.

Stevens also as a football team. Go Ducks!

As I posted on your post in the RPI forum, my S who is a senior at Stevens was also accepted to RPI and took the much better financial aid package from Stevens. He is very happy there and expects to be working after graduation for one of the companies he co-opted for.

as a current freshmen at Stevens. It is a fact that Stevens does NOT have a football team. Stevens haven’t had a football team since the early 1920’s

The main thing that shines about Stevens is the personal attention that students receive. This reflects well specifically in career placement where they are annually in the Top 15 in this category. Most Stevens grads have jobs before graduation due to the vast opportunities for professional practice in the co-op & internship arenas. Obviously, being a smaller school, the class sizes are smaller, so that is something to take into consideration depending on the academic experience you desire.

Having visited both places, I don’t doubt that Stevens gives its students personal attention, but per USNews, % of classes at RPI <20, 52.6%. At Stevens, 42.5%. I am not sure why this is given the 7:1 student:faculty ratio at Stevens. Maybe more Stevens faculty are doing something other than teaching undergraduates.

Last year I believe RPI was ranked least happy students…I’d go to Steven’s. good luck
