<p>I have an essay about something my sensei said (a quote), how I was frustrated because I never understood it (it was a deep-meaning-to-karate thing), an experience that "showed" me what it meant, and then how I'm different because of it.</p>
<p>Now, that sounds a lot like the commonapp essay prompt "Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you." But I could also choose "Topic of your choice." If I choose the first, will the adcom be expecting the cliche? Which do I choose...</p>
