Question on Essay Topic-Quick help needed please!!

So I've already written my essay and I am quite happy with it. I wrote it intending it to be a topic of my choice, but it very loosely answers the first prompt, "Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you."

My question is, would it be better to indicate that I did the first topic, in which my essay doesn't completely answer it, or would it be better to leave it as a topic of my choice? My concern is just that if I pick the first one, colleges will be kinda annoyed that it didn't REALLY answer the question, but I've heard rumors they're not really fans of the 'choice' topic. (Really, JUST rumors, no credible sources at all.)

Thank you!

My take on this is that either way they are gonna see your essay. They wouldn't have a topic of your choice option if could affect you in a significantly negative way. The first prompt is pretty broad and general to me, are you sure your essay can't fit it? They made the prompts general so that you could write whatever you can do your best with.

That's how i see it anyway. I wouldn't worry.

They wouldn't have the topic of your choice option if they didn't want you to use it. Don't worry to much about it...
