If you had to pick two subjects to self study (my teachers this year are awful)...which two would you take? Which ones have the easiest curves and most people generally score the highest on?

I am thinking Math 1 and maybe Physics? Either that or spanish...can anyone reccomend which ones I should start studying for?

Math 1 or Math 2 are solid ones to take self-studied. Math 1 has a harsh curve - as harsh as the SAT Math section. Math 2 is a lot more lenient as -8 or more results in 800. Its basically pre-calc and alg1.

Physics self-study might kill u unless u have done Hon. or AP Physics B.

What are you strongest & what subjects do the schools you're applying to want to see strength in? What math are you currently taking? For folks taking pre-calc, the MathII SATII is actually easier than the Math I, according to all I've read & heard.

What major are you thinking of? Many schools want you to have a subject test in some social studies. A science is also useful, especially if you're considering majoring in engineering or some science field. I'd suggest you go to the library and/or bookstore & browse through the books on the SAT II subject tests & find ones that you feel you could do well in by studying on your own. That's the way my son did it & all his scores were >700.

The only reason that I am worried about Math 2c is that my precalc teacher this year is so rediculously easy that the lowest grade in an honors class is about a 93. It makes my gpa soar but does not help so much come SAT II time.

How many Qs on Math IIC? How many of those do you need to get right to get an 800?

You can get the book & self-study or take it next year in the fall. My son took the SATII Math2 fall of senior year & it worked well for him because they were reviewing all the pre-calc stuff in both physics & calculus at the time. He got an 800.

There's 50 questions on the Math IIC test and you would probably need a RAW score of about 43-44 to get an 800. So if you answer all the questions, you can probably get about 5 wrong.

I would strongly suggest taking SAT II world history. From my experience, I got a 760 by just cramming in barrons and kaplan in 2 weeks. The only history i have taken: european history (non-AP) in 9th, middle-ages history in 8th, and ancient history in 6th and 7th grade. Together, it all helped, but WH is definitely a subject one can cram and get a decent score.

The opposite for me is true about our Precal class. Our grades are skewed to the left, and the lower grades are more frequent, and it isn't because the people are stupid; it's freakishly hard. I think I'm gonna do well on the SAT II Math IIC.
