Weighted GPA, your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
If the University of California gives me Honors credit for the honors English class I took in Oregon, then I have a 4.4 . If not then I have a 4.3.
They will not give you extra credit for anything other than an IB/AP class, unless you took the honors course in California.
UCLA/UCB: Low Reach
UCSD: High Match
UCD/UCI/UCSB: Match
UCSC: Low Match
UCR/UCM: Safety
You have only 1 SAT2 subject test listed. Although none of the UC’s require them, they are recommended and the majority of the competitive applicants will have taken at least 2.
UCLA/UCB and UCSD are within reach if you have some outstanding essays.
Good luck.
I definitly feel the same as @Gumbymom in regard to Subject tests. Make sure you have 2 of them (with good scores). That alone significantly strengthens your appl to top UCs.
I only took Math 2 because I felt like no other subject test is related to Computer Science.
These are the SAT 2 subject tests recommended for Engineering and Science majors:
Math Level 2 and a science test (Biology E/M, Chemistry, or Physics) closely related to the applicant’s intended major.
My younger son is a CS major and when applied to the UC’s he took Math 2, Physics and Biology E to help his chances.
Where is he going now?
@parsi7: He is currently attending SDSU. He only applied to UCR/UCD/UCSB and UCI and knew his chances were not great due to his below average UC GPA of 3.73 for all but UCR. He got an acceptance at UCR but opted to go to SDSU. Loves the school and CS program. His 1st choice was SLO, but again new his chances were slim.
Taking another subject test is a definitely a must. Your GPA looks solid, but try to increase your ACT score though, especially for the reading section.
I’m a senior, so I can’t do any of that anymore.
@parsi7 im pretty sure UC’s allow you to take SAT 2’s after the admission deadline and to retake SAT 1
