I’m pretty sure all transfer students are housed in dorm rooms at Porter, although their collegiate affiliations are different. That is, as a transfer the only thing your college signifies is what academic counselor you’ll have (for things like taking a leave of absence, academic probation, etc.), what student government meetings you’ll attend (if you choose to be a part of one), and what graduation ceremony you’ll attend (there are separate ceremonies for each college).
You might consider applying to 9 and 10 and then the International Living Center, if that’s an option for you as a transfer student (I don’t know if it is). The ILC is in the forest, reasonably close to Science and Engineering, and apartment style.
