hello guys
I am a student from India and I am looking at universities abroad (mainly united states) for undergrad studies in the fall of 2016.
I prefer engineering (mechanical and/or mechatronics).
My sat score is 2090 and sat math2 (sat2- subject test) score is 800. My physics (sat2) subject test score is 780.
I have been an intern in an environment foundation and am planning to also volunteer in a foundation.
I secured 8th in state in the national talent search examination. I also got an international rank in the international math olympiad conducted by sof. I have also completed a CAD course. I also plan to intern in a company and learn to develop an application as a part of the internship.
I have played sports in school level but I am a bit academic oriented.
what are my chances of getting into top colleges like MIT or ivy league?
what universities should I apply to(particularly some top universities)?
also what are my chances into waterloo university of cannada?
Is there any thing I can do to help me get into these colleges?
You need to look at other schools, look at Big Ten schools. Also, Rutgers, Lehigh, Stevens, etc. Ivy League schools except for Cornell don’t have the top engineering schools.
Hi I looked at the topuniversities.com and it is giving me most of the Ivy league schools in the first 10 of the top universities for Mechanical engineering. I am interested in going to the top 10 schools for engineering. Can anyone please let me know the chances of getting into them and what i should do for improving my chances?
What is your financial situation? Do you expect financial aid and if so how much?
Regarding major my impression is that “mechatronics” is typically a course that mechanical engineering major can take at some american universities. A handful of universities appear to offer it as a “major”. That it’s a formal major important to you?
Hi I dont mind taking Mechanical Engineering with Mechatronics being one of the subjects. I am not very particular about Mechatronics being a formal major. It would be better getting a financial aid but that is not my primary concern for choosing the college. If I get into a good university, I dont mind paying for it.
With that SAT score, it wouldn’t be wise to look at an ivy. The mid 50 SAT scores for ivy’s and MIT is above 2300.
