Well, im a freshmen at CSUN and im changing my major to fashion design next semester. Im planning to transfer out in two years. The universities that I came up with is SFSU, Academy of Art University, Art Institute, and FIDM. I'm only interested in universities that are located in San Diego, LA, or San Franisco. Anyone know other universities that has a great fashion design program besides the ones I mentioned?? Thanks.

Fashion Institute of Technology i would assume.

Thats in NEW YORK, I’m not gna transfer to another state…

Otis College of Art & Design.

The problem with transfering to a private art college for fashion design is that it won’t be a smooth or easy transition. The curriculum at a school like Otis college of art and design, isn’t like cal states or other universities where you take general ed in the beginning. the general ed is spread out over the course of the program. So if you’re looking at schools like otis fidm art institute or academy of art, you’d be wasting your time doing 2 years at csun or however long you plan on staying there before you transfer.

Are you interested in getting a Bachelors? Many of the FD schools only give an AA. To get a BA (of BFA at some schools) you need to go to a university that has the full program.

CSULB has the program… [CSULB 09-10 Catalog - Fashion Merchandising and Design](<a href=“Previous Years | CSULB Student Catalog”>Previous Years | CSULB Student Catalog)

Yes, I’m planning to get a BA in fashion design. Why would it be a waste of time?? I would be done with all my GE Requirements the 2 years that Im staying at CSUN.

There’s a FIDM in Orange County.

Yes, I know theres 4 FIDM. In sd, la, orange county, and sf.

I don’t think it’s a waste to get a BA in fashion design. I think it’s a very good idea :)

Did you see my suggestion of CSULB in post #5?

Here’s the link… [CSULB 09-10 Catalog - Fashion Merchandising and Design](<a href=“Previous Years | CSULB Student Catalog”>Previous Years | CSULB Student Catalog)

Not only would going to CSULB give you a BA, but it would also be a lot cheaper than one of these suggested private schools.

CSULB is one of the highest (if not the highest) ranking Cal State…very well regarded. Plus, it’s fun to live near the beach and go to school.

Yes, I saw your post earlier. CSULB was my first choice when I was applying for colleges in high school. Unfortunately, i did not get accepted there because they had a 20% cut for freshmen applicants. Thus, making it hard to get in. My overall gpa was decent. It was a 3.5 and test scores its a little below average. The required GPA for CSUs are at least a 2.5, mine was way beyond that. So, I figured that I didnt get accepted was because of the budget cuts. I also got accepted to Woodbury University, CSUN, CSUSB, and UC Merced. So, I made the decision to attend CSUN…but I realize that its not the right school for me. I didnt know that CSULB offers fashion design as a major, so I was considering private art colleges. Since, you gave me the link that they do offer fashion design, I’m going to apply there again in two years and hopefully I will get in. I love the campus, the weather is great, and its a nice area to live in. It is the college that I really want to go. :-)

Can someone tell me what csu might accept me
