A lot of juniors and seniors prepare for the SAT exams right now in my school. (Well... everybody is preparing)
I see everybody looking at the textbooks and solving few questions in the library.
I know some people that go to after school program for few hours to study SAT.
Some people study by themselves at home.
Which way do you think is the smart way to study for the SAT?
Another question: Are the those special after school program for the SAT really helpful?

I would suggest doing some more research around the SAT section of this board, but you’ll find that the general consensus is that the best way to study is by using the Collegeboard’s Official SAT Study Guide, often referred to as “the Blue Book.” I would look at the guides stickied in this forum, such as the one silverturtle has.

The consensus is also that those after-school programs don’t really help, especially for the students who are comfortable with all the material covered and are motivated and disciplined enough to study on their own. The students that are still in Geometry (some kids at my school were) during their junior year would also need additional help from a teacher on material they might not master by themselves.

So long post… but… it depends on the person. For a majority of the people on CC, studying alone by taking practice tests from the Blue Book and carefully reviewing them is the most effective way to study and make progress. (+memorizing the words in Direct Hits)
