whiney jerks

Im really tired of hearing all this crud about appealing the UCs. Im sorry but most of the people complaining that they didnt get in were not shoe ins to the college in the first place. One of my friends wants to appleal UCLA because he forgot to put some ec’s down, but his UC gpa is 3.5 and his sat scores aren’t enough to compensate. The only case someone shoul appeal is if they had problems with the application, or they got rejected from UCI with a 4.4 UCgpa and a 1550 satI and good sat iis.

Face it you have been rejected. You probably wont go to that school for undergrad, because the admissions officers didn’t think you would add more then the other guy who got accepted to the campus. Im sorry if I seem harsh or my speling is bad but i just had to get this off my mind.

I second that

You must realize that not everyone how gets in goes...in fact, most don't.

So what's wrong with people trying to get those spots by appealing?

It's putting tax dollars to good use :)

considering this is a college discussion board, people are going to dicuss appealing. Its just something people do, and i wouldnt consider it whining , because sometimes appealing actuallly does work.

Well, I agree as I said "I second that", that if you have a 3.0 and ur appealing at caltech.. thats plain stupid... but something like a 3.8 at ucla... id for sure do it
I'd definetly appeal... I mean if you're not gonna fight for yourself, who will?

the point in applealing is that something was wrong with the review of your application that had an overall effect on the outcome of the colleges decision. the UCs are not private schools where they have a limbo where you are neither accepted nor rejected. i never heard of berkeley differing or waitlisting someone.

you cant say the point in appealing is to get an open spot, because the UC spots are usually full in the first place. although the UCs do allot spots for appeals they are for people who actually had a probem with the application. Not for whiney jerks.

I think what's going on is a new reality that's hard for many to accept. Most everyone is getting into a lower UC than they could have a few short years ago. They all know someone who got into Cal with a 3.5/1200.

UCLA and Cal used to be shoo ins for top students, now they are random. SD turned down a lot of very strong students theses past 2 years. Riverside is now taking those who used to get into UCI without an issue.

CA has less money, more kids and APs are now open to all. A new reality and appeals won't work.
