Ok I'm gonna come off sounding like an a55 and probably get flamed back to wherever I came from, but I've noticed way too many threads about "Appeals" for all the wrong reasons.
And I don't mean the people who actually have a legitimate reason for appeals, because that is what the appeal process is for.

An appeal is for the people who either:
1. omitted some information on their application
2. have stumbled upon new and relevant information concerning their application (ie. won an award recently)
3. the university made a technical error in your rejection (ie. they thought you were missing a pre-req when you weren't)

An appeal is NOT for the people who:
1. got rejected with a 4.0 (contrary to popular belief a 4.0 doesn't guarantee you Cal/LA)
2. have absolutely no new and relevant information concerning their application
3. want to try for an easier major (everyone gets one chance that's it)
4. are actually missing pre-reqs.

That said, everyone has the right to appeal. But at least stop starting threads and giving false hope to people who have better things to do.
I'm ready to get flamed now.

Naw dude, I don’t think you’re gonna get flamed. You made valid points. But two years of hard work and getting a rejection letter is a little hard to take in.

I agree. But I also think people should stop making a UCLA thread every hour. UCLA and UCSD threads push all the other threads back so new people to the board make appeals one. I tried making a solid appeal thread about a month ago but all the UCLA complainers threads pushed mine back!

no good thing you brought this up. it should be a sticky in fact. there are so many threads on appeals. This hopefully will answer some ppl’s questions about appeals. good job

Bravo. Everyone is throwing the word “appeal” around as if it’s a second chance of applying. If you forgot to include something or if the admissions staff made a mistake then that is a different story.

Best thing to do is call admissions and ask them if your situation warrants an appeal. That should basically give you your answer.

I am taking a class at UCSD and just got above the average and the median on the midterm and got a good grade…its a prereq for my major too.

And the director of the cogs neuroscience lab at UCSD told me hed help with a letter of reccomendation with his support, since I took his class last quarter through cross-enrollment and did good.

I also participated in a few psychological experiments at UCSD for credit.

I think thats new/compelling evidence if ever there was some.

haha i agree with you guys about the Cal threads
on the 30th, I just really want there to be 1) Stats thread (for accepted and rejected, no talking) 2)accepted! yay! lets talk! 3) rejected, boo now I am going to ____

but knowing the thread there will be 100000 of just “omg the decisions are coming out today”

There should also be a “If you are worried about being rescinded maybe you shouldn’t have dropped/failed your class” thread. I understand that some people have circumstances that can cause this but there are seriously 27 new threads with the title “Am I going to be rescinded” made a day.

True that.
The thing is for most of those threads, the ONLY choice they have is to ask their university counselor or admissions officer. So why bother make a thread.
