White Female from a Southern private school wants to go to Yale

<p>Top 3% of class, has taken 9 AP's by end of senior year and will probably have all 4's or 5's on AP exams. Lead editor and contributor of an award winning literary magazine, on a team that is the only high school to participate amongst colleges in IGEMS team (international genetically engineered machines) , numerous leadership roles in school to include student body treasurer and National Honor Society vice president. Lifelong Girl Scout and 4.58 weighted GPA at a school with rigourous courseload. </p>

<p>I noticed that there is a lower percentage of kids from the South who get admitted, so was curious about her chances. </p>

<p>She has a chance, but that’s the best that anyone can say. It is a reach for her, as it is for everyone. </p>

<p>It probably matters if this is Virginia or Arkansas.</p>

<p>Fewer admits or fewer matriculants? Makes a difference in your perceptions.
Read everything you can that Yale puts out about “what we look for.” And remember the leadership Yale wants can be about about responsibilities and/or impact, not just titles, and extend beyond the hs. Best wishes.</p>
