Unfortunately not. Only the girl and the guy know what really happened, and each has their own version. The article you quoted is one (very biased) side only. And it may be very close to the truth, but it’s being told by someone who wasn’t there, so all information (and all the emotions quoted) are second-hand.

so what your suggesting is all second hand testimony is irrelevant? I really don’t understand why people on these forums go out of there way to discredit and play down incidents such as this. there a real issues here and real people are getting hurt.

So, what you’re suggesting is that one side of the story should automatically believed to be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

Imagine that you are accused of some crime, major or minor. And someone writes a story like the emotional one above. Would you like your side of the events to be heard, or would you prefer we just believe the other side?

^It sounds like you are just automatically taking the side of the more simpathetic view. Which is nice… but it helps to have info on both sides of the story.

“Oh, this fragile white woman got raped by her boyfriend, let’s convict him”

“Where is he?”

“He’s been out of the country for 4 weeks”

“Well when he gets back let’s send his ass to jail”

ok, that was probably mean… I have no filter at 7AM

you get the point though. I don’t care how sad/horrible/prescious/whatever one side of a story is, you need to hear both before you can pass judgment.

I’m surprised nobody has said this yet but…GMU is going to have to do some MAJOR damage control. Their public image right now is shot…especially so close to the matriculation deadline.

pie759, it’s disturbing that you think one side of an argument is all that is needed. That close-mindedness will cause you major problems in life.

What argument? You don’t even acknowledge there is more than one side to the story. If you seriously think that way, then you need to repeat your elementary education.

^ take it easy with your big Phd. brain, don’t riddle me with your “perfect logic”… this is the real world, there isn’t always a third party first hand witness to every crime… but maybe in Lalaland… try readin their brochure.

I didn’t bother to read the article, but from what I’ve read on this forum I think I can piece together what happened.

This poor white girl is raped by a muslim senior at this college. She’s a feminist who knows the cops will take her side, and so she calls them to remove the man. He’s from Michigan and she’s from Georgia, and so they dislike each other very much just because of that. Lawmakers are trying to decide if she’s a victim of rape or just making an accusation of rape, but either way the guy is guilty. It’s not racism, but if that girl from UCLA called the cops on her Asian classmates for talking so much I’m sure we’d look upon this case a little differently. The charges were dropped.

Without a reliable, third-party but first-hand source we will never know what REALLY went on.

Perhaps, but if you lived in Virginia you would know that regionally we are very divided. Northern Virginia (where GMU is), is largely liberal and diverse. GMU is close to DC, which is one of the most diverse places in our country, if anything, GMU may be considered one of the MOST tolerant schools.
