White House internship chances

I’m looking to apply for a fall White House Internship my senior year of college. I know letters of recommendation are important. First, will a letter from a U.S. Senator make a big impact? And do you think he/she would write one for me? (BTW Barack Obama would still be President)

I intern for a member of the Democratic Senate Leadership at the Senator’s Regional State Office as Chief Intern where I oversee about 10 interns. I’ve got a great relationship with the staffers in the office. I’ve also staffed the Senator at about a dozen events, though I don’t know him personally or talk to him every time.

As a plus, I know two people who have connects to my Senator’s Washington Office and they’d be willing to make calls there for me.

I’m a business major at a small liberal arts school with a 3.9 GPA and I am Comptroller of Student Government and President of Investment Club. I’m also an RA.
