White House Internship Spring 2012

I just applied to the Spring 2012 White House Internship Program. I am very excited. My top choices are: Office of Digital Strategy, Communications, and the National Economic Council. This is the new White House internship thread. I hope to meet others who have applied and former White House interns to learn more about getting scholarships and financial aid to pay for D.C housing. Lets go! ;D

best of luck!! let us know how it goes.

will do! ;)

PM me if you get it, please. I’m genuinely interested.

Any thoughts on my thread?

The 200+ page thread? I think it has very good information about what the White House is looking for in candidates. Personally, I am not worrying about that. I am confident enough that I will get a response from the White House. Yet if I get rejected, I am not going to be disappointed. I am a recent graduate, graduated in 2009. I have ridden that job rejection wave for the past 2 years. So I have grown a thick skin, trust me. I am proud for getting the courage to apply, whether I do not get it or not. I am an optimist at heart.

My main priority is looking for affordable D.C. housing options right now. I may not get the internship, but I want to at least prepare 4 months in advance. I want to find an apartment right now so that I do not have to wait until December or even early January. So I am going to contact some alumni and looking for former White House interns to talk to about financial aid. :)

Anybody heard anything?

Not me…I called and they said the latest that we will probably hear back is late November. Womp.

Just curious… has anyone received a phone interview?

i had a phone interview about a week ago.

I had one a week and a half ago. :/

Has anyone been accepted?

I’ve had two phone interviews, and a vitals email. I am dying to know whether this is a good sign or not. Its been almost 3 weeks since the interviews. Trying to stay optimistic. Doees anyone know how they announce the selections? is it done via individual emails/calls or in one press release or by mailed letters? I think if i at least knew that much i’d feel better. Also, if they said late november and now it is late november is that bad news for those who haven’t heard anything yet?

does anyone know how and when they will announce the selections? is it done individually via email/phone/mailed letters or collectively in one press release?

all applicants will get an email. either offering an internship position, or thanking them for applying.
email notifications started 10/24, on a rolling basis. statistically, most people that are offered an internship get their email the week after thanksgiving.

Where is the cheapest housing in the greater DC area and on the metro line? My son may be interning there and we have no idea where one can live. Anything furnished?
