White House Internship Summer 2010

So, the application came out yesterday anyone else applying?

I know several people on this forum have gotten offered the internships to those people any advice, how was the experience, any additional things to look out for/ keep in mind.

Thanks, good luck to everyone who decides to apply

Hey there, I am also thinking of applying! I have all the paperwork ready, but would definitely like some advice and know what other people are doing for their Memo and Essay. I liked that they spiced up the application process by including a Memo, but is this a trick?

Any comments?

you guys should check out the super long thread started during the first round of summer applications last year http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/internships-careers-employment/690949-white-house-internship.html</a></p>

It’ll be really, really helpful in answering any of your questions about the process. And, after 3 different terms of internship applications (summer, fall, and spring), you’ll get a great sense of the process. We spring applicants also had to create memos.

i just finished up my memo it was an interesting experience personally I dont understand the purpose of a couple of the questions in the beginning like what is your favorite song,n are they really going to make a decision based on something trivial like that

Just curious, would the fact that I am conservative politically and interned for a Republican gubernatorial campaign last summer hurt my chances?

Hey guyz! I’ve applied for the Summer 2010 internship and got the confirmation email. So waiting for their response. Best luck to all those who applied! :)

Has anyone heard anything about the WH internship? I know they extended the deadline for apps…

nope, have not heard a word since my app + recs were confirmed

Hey guys, has anyone got an interview request yet?

I haven’t heard a peep since the application. You?

No, I haven’t heard anything yet…I imagine they will contact people this or next week to schedule interviews?

Howdy Folks!

I have been following the White House Intern Thread for a while as a non member, so I just now decided to join. I applied as well and wanted in on the latest news of the application status. Good luck to all! Glad to join the forum!

So what I am gathering from the posts, is that if you did not receive a “vitals” email then you did not get the internship or an interview. Sorry I am just a little confused. I feel as though this was answered somewhere in this thread.

well I didn’t get a vitals email and people say without that there is basically no chance for getting the internship but who knows maybe we will be proven wrong, I hope so but doubt it at this point

can someone help me out. I applied for the fall 2010 internship program and they are going to start notification on Monday! What should I expect? Thank You

There’s 122 pages of information on the WH internship here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/internships-careers-employment/690949-white-house-internship-122.html</a></p>

Good luck!

thanks you very much

So I have not received a notifcation yet, and looking through this thread, I am becoming concerned.

I received a vitals email, to which I obviously replied, but was not contacted for a phone interview. Has anyone been accepted thusfar who was not interviewed?

To complicate things, I am currently living abroad, doing a masters at LSE-- so maybe THAT’s why I wasn’t asked for an interview?

Also, do all departments conduct interviews? Those who have been interviewed, what were your top 3 department choices?

Mine were: Domestic Policy Council, National Economic Council, and WH Office of Energy and Climate Change (ranked in that order).

I’ve been obsessively checking my email for the last five days-- I really want to know already!
