Putin: well said! I’m sure you’ll make it there… just be persistent!

I think a majority of us will be successful – assuming the kindness, foresight, camaraderie and intelligence we’ve shown continues into the work we involve ourselves in… even if it isn’t within the confines of the White House. :)

Hmmm…I’m not sure I believe that just because none of us received calls this week means we aren’t in the running. I imagine they have their own “special” ways of looking us up…

IT’S THE WHITE HOUSE. THEY PROBABLY TELEPORT FROM ROOM TO ROOM.I THINK THEY COULD LOOK US UP WITHOUT “GIVING US A RING” LOL

Some offices may not need to call us or check our references. Especially those who’ve worked on the campaign. I’m just speculating.

I know alot of Republicans like to usually hit Democrats for whining about how there are bad things about America…

America is still the best country in the world…but we need to remember why we are the best…we always strive for excellence and perfection…there are soo many examples of that…take NASA, take our aerospace industry, arms industry, civil engineering…so many things…we excel because of our fervor is striving for perfection and excellence…

and in saying that, it is only natural that we strive for perfection and excellence in constructing/weaving the social fabric of this country. we can never stop and look at ourselves as being already at the top, or think what we have done is enough for mankind or ever settle for mediocrity.
i have been to many nations abroad that settle for medocrity or for the bare minimum…and i have seen the correlation to its development as a civilization…None

so, never accept the arguement that you hate your country, etc. because you criticize it…we criticize it so it can be better than ever

like your mom criticizing you for bad behavior, bad grades…etc…she does it because she LOVES you and we love our country! :)

“Without debate, without criticism, no Administration and no country can succeed - and no republic can survive. That is why the Athenian law-maker Solon decreed it a crime for any citizen to shrink from controversy.” - JFK - April 27, 1961

Now - this is not against anyone, but I don’t feel comfortable saying that the United States is the best country in the world. I am very happy to be an American and try not to take anything for granted, but honestly… is that a fair statement? Sometimes I feel that saying such things hinder us more than they help. It (in my opinion) gives off a sense of entitlement, arrogance and turns people against us.

Hey the world would be a better place if more Presidents would Preach…lol

One more day guys, I will be logged on to my computer staked out next to a box of tissues (if I lose), some pom-poms (if I win). lol

And America is the greatest nation in the country. But, we should do more to exhibit that than proclaiming it. We should lead by example. Yes we are a nation who’s foundation is set on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, but we should model those proclamations rather then just supplying the rhetoric.

TORTURE is bad regardless of the results. That mentality is the same mentality that one could use to justify slavery. Yes we killed and permanently oppressed a generation (one could debate the affects will never leave) of people, but look what it did for our economic growth.***.

I love this country as long as it sticks to its principles regardless of how inefficient or confrontational they are at the time. You want to be the best, act like the best.

Not just by adopting an imperialist mindset, but by displaying the humility that would make evil dictators marvel and question their own actions.

Good Point. Depends on what counts for being great. I look at it from the scientific.engineering point, and I think we have rocketed the world in regards to science and engineering. Internet, communications, NASA, etc.

But we are lacking in may other points as well and I understand your point. very Valid :)

something i found a bit perplexing is when I have visited African and Middle Eastern countries, they mainly have a positive view of America. I have met many muslims as well, even the really conservative Turban/Beard types, and when they set aside politics, they really do have a positive view of America. So, its a bit interesting and a good sign form American/Islamic relations :)

haha Putin: ahhh good point, as well. I cannot speak for the scientific/engineering point of view. My degree is in Political Science soooo… yeah. I hated the physics class I took…

I see what you’re saying though.

I think I’m going to throttle myself outside… being cooped-up in front of my computer, which, I doubt will yield any new information on my application status is making me feel guilty. lol

George, I interviewed for the Scheduling office which is not very popular (it seems) but when you think about it, you will probably be exposed to the President quite a lot in that office, that was my rationale at least.

(I had actual work at work…sorry for the delayed response!)

The suspense is killing me!!! I am getting an “Obama Pick Me” t-shirt made and I am going to stand in front of the White House…Wish me luck guys!!! (joking)

Hi Everyone!
Wow,this thread is really growing. Can’t say I’m surprised though.

nupenupeyooo:
I don’t think compared to the other offices, that the Vice President’s office would have been a popular choice. To me,it just seemed like a combination of all the offices put into one for the Vice President.I’m probably wrong, but I would think that applicants wouldn’t have picked that one to be their first choice because they thought they’d have a better chance of meeting Obama if they were in another office.
BUT,it is also possible that was a popular choice.Applicants might have also thought that the Vice President’s office wouldn’t be a popular choice,so it was a safe bet to apply for that office since so few people would be applying for it.I hope that made sense :/

Yeah I figured that much. I was just wondering if they would pull the people who were “on the bubble” from the WH Internship and put them in the Office of the Vice President? I dunno. My guess is they wouldn’t. If someone expressed a desire to work in the Office of the V.P. then chances are they would get selected first.

and the speculations continues… T MINUS- 24HRS

Found this site last week and have watched it explode this week. Since it looks like nobody has heard back yet, I guess tomorrow is the big day. Best of luck to all!
