White House Internship

oh, and i dont know what he did, hmmm nadda clue

I’m pretty sure most of us would/will be working in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and will only have limited interaction with the West Wing. Princeton Review categorizes the internship as “Medium-High” in terms of busy work, and says some of the most popular offices are Press Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Political Affairs, Public Liaison and Presidential Correspondence.

“Interns’ responsibilities vary from office to office. Although many of the tasks involve “ground-level” work, interns feel like they are part of a team. One intern in the Mail Analysis division of the Presidential Correspondence Office was responsible for picking out the letters - among thousands - that President Bush would read … Another intern, in the Public Liaison Office, spent a lot of time planning events such as the signing ceremony for President Bush’s sweeping tax cuts.”

*: Should note that the “Best 109 Internships” book somewhat exaggerates the day-to-day activities of most internships, but it’s still a good read.

pretty neat. the eisenhower executive office building is right in front of the Blair House, which is also pretty interesting, and not to mention, next to the White House.

there was one website where one intern under Clinton actually had some good exposure, and what not. Immean, exposure isnt all that matters, obviously, but its neat tho

have a looksy

thanks itinerant!

i’m sure regardless, it will still be a good experience. just think of all of the other interns you would meet! as well as senior staff members, of course!

“…one intern under Clinton actually had some good exposure”…

You don’t say? In all seriousness, it’s a helpful link! I think the “infamy” regarding White House Internships has passed since '98.

hahaha, no malicious intent on my behalf lol

hahaha yall, Check this out, a picture of what an intern had to do under Bush…I would!!

[MOM! MOM! I got the White House intern position!!! - Democratic Underground](<a href=“Democratic Underground Forums - Request error”>MOM! MOM! I got the White House intern position!!!! - Democratic Underground)

ugh now that’s real intern dirty work. hopefully, our brilliant minds will be put to better use (that’s assuming that i get this internship…please oh please!)

countdown: 18 hours ish

i’d take that intern position haha–like most of ya’ll have been saying, give me any job–as long as i get to work in/around the white house haha

Hmm…so it seems this may be the last time we talk before friday, meaning before we “know”
how funny would it be (not actually funny–if anything, painstaking torture) if we all got an email telling us we’d find out monday? oh GOOODDDD

T-minus 14 hours, mas o menos

AJFXW

yep, could be…

and we BETTER stay in touch after this via Facebook, etc…track eachothers’ progress, maybe for us that may not make it and applying next year, etc

zam4q

yeah, its a little lonely up here in the Situation Room ,lol.

Any updates on anyone receiving the great news from WH?

AJFXW- OH MY GOSH. If they seriously kept us waiting til Monday I think we’d all go off the deep end. I can see new psych textbooks now: “White House Intern Prospect Disorder- characterized by long bouts of anxiety punctuated with deep feelings of sadness and/or anger.”

Our day of reckoning is soon to arrive…

PS. Putin, that song is stuck in my head now. UGH! :)

kt710

HAHAHA on both points! the song and the disorder, lol!

i say…if we get rejected…we go Rick Perry on them and SECEDE!

all onboard??? haha

ok now that I’ve caught up with reading:

obviously did not recieve anything today, unfortunately will probably be a little behind on the uptake tomorrow, so I’ll let you guys now the second I check my email and get news, although it may not be instantaneously after I hear yes/no

Also I talked to a reference today (not about this) but if he has been contacted he didn’t say so, although he seemed confident I would get the internship, then again he always thinks positive so I don’t think he’s been contacted  But he’s a good morale booster :)

OK I’m going to bed because I have to repack tomorrow at 7am to drive to another campus :)

i think i know somebody who got the White House Internship…

wait before you get too excited…

i saw an article about Kal Penn (Kumar) who was described not as getting a job at the White House, but as an Intern…also, i remember an interview he had where he said he would be working in the Eisenhower Building…hmmm, makes sense…so he has taken One spot up already :(

George: what are you talking about???

quote from news:

Dr. Lawrence Kutner, Penn’s character on the medical drama House, was killed off this week, so the actor could take a job as associate director in the White House Office of Public Liaison in the Barack Obama White House.

In the new position, the Indian-American actor will serve as an envoy to the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, to Hollywood and to young people.
