I know. All while the interns thumb their nose at us…We will be step children lol

haha, it will be funny if we work side by side with them…and we can get final revenge by outdoing them in everything! and getting praise for it as well lol

i just got the email and thought i’d check to see if anyone posted on cc. guess twenty other people beat me to it! ha!

i don’t even know if it’s worth applying. seriously, volunteer?
hey, i volunteered at the white house…vs…hey, i interned at the white house.

but i guess it’s the experience and not necessarily the title that counts.

true, and you might just impress somebody and you just never know…

Dear Mr. Obama

Hi, I am a recent White House Intern reject. I just received your email for the Correspondence Volunteer position. After three pain-staking weeks of participating in this thread and agonizing over my imminent doom; I will once again subject myself to the grueling process. But, this time to work as an elf in the words largest fan mail base (I’m sure you get more mail than anyone except for Jesus and Santa Claus).

I don’t want to start the “White House Intern Double Reject FB Group”.lol

Good day,

nupenpeyoo

hahahaha woww! pretty funny ;lol

Ya I got that email also. I’m not sure that is even worth it. That being said anyone that is going to be in DC this summer and wants to help out in a slightly more productive way should know that I will working with the group DC for Obama and is the volunteer built grassroots group that went down to VA during the campaign. I’m not sure exaclty what we will be doing yet, but Jeremy Bird is involved in the planning and anyone that has had a chance to work with him knows that means its sweet.

Good luck to you guys, its too bad none of get to be for HRC what monica was to bill.

I got the same email. I don’t really care what they call it.

Every intern that’s unpaid is volunteering and any volunteer that needs to submit a resume and cover letter for a volunteer position is interning.

The White House can call it whatever they want to meet their quotas/whatev’s, my resume will call it what it is.

I’ve just recently found this thread and thought I should probably post. I applied for the White House Summer Internship program as well. I submitted everything a day before it was due. I never received a confirmation that they had received my application, or any of the email all of you have posted about. In other words, I have heard absolutely nothing. At this point I obviously haven’t gotten the internship, but to not receive anything is just odd. I wonder if there was an error with my application or something. Did anyone else not receive anything? Any suggestions?

I also sent it in the day it was due, and got nothing back. I haven’t been able to get a hold of anybody.

Am I screwed?

MURachel & CAKSG,

I sent in my application pretty late too, but I got a confirmation email, so I don’t think it has to do with the time or date you send in your application. Maybe they never got all of your recommendations? At this point, you can call them, but it might be too late to find out. Did you contact them or call them when you didn’t get a confirmation email? Or when you didn’t get an email on April 20th to wait until the end of that week?

Thanks for getting back to me. I emailed them (got no response) and then tried calling but keep getting the same stupid recorded message…I applied to work in the Counsel’s office…thoughts??

I tried emailing and calling too.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. Everything in on time/ahead of time and still nothing. I’ve been looking at this board for a while now to see what everyone else was doing. I’ve also emailed them a few times about this. I don’t know what else we can really do. Just letting you know there are probably a lot of people in the same position.

My friend and I sent our application the day before it was due. I got two confirmations and also a rejection from them but my friend didn’t get any response until today. I think they messed up a certain batch of applications.

I spoke to someone in the personnel office today. she said if you didnt hear back by friday (the 24th) you wouldnt hear at all. but that doesnt match what people have been posted - that some folks have gotten emails TODAY. I dont think the White House internship office knows what the hell they’re doing/talking about. i asked about my status and she said she was “unable” to give me that information. i doubt they even reviewed all the apps that came in on time.

This is so frustrating!

is this for high school or college students? curious

you have to be 18 and a us citizen, either about to enter freshman year of college, or no more than 2 years out of college (just google White House Internships and read the requirements). Obviously as you can see from the thread, super competitive, although this first round was both chaotic and a bit of cronyism. so there you go!

Anyone here going to be / was a DNC intern…heard they were ultra competitive this year too…15 taken out of hundreds of applicants - from the intern director…
