Yup, just graduated, and am studying for the bar now. So I naturally picked White House Counsel First, then Cabinet AFfiras and Chief of Staff. Rahm is pretty much my hero. Would LOVE to work for him. Did you see the Brian Williams special these past two days? Made me want to be there in the middle of it sooooo badly. What about you–are you a college student? What major>

As long as no one can find out though goggling that an applicant is involved in Republican Club any way, you will be fine. If Republicans president occupy the white hose then an intern with Democratic affiliation has a little chance.

LawGrad2009, I agree with you on Rahm; he would be really cool to work for. I did see the Brian Williams special and I felt like jumping through the tv screen. haha. I am a Philosophy, Politics and Law major at Binghamton University in NY and a rising senior. I don’t want to be a lawyer and I hope I won’t have to go to law school down the line. Where did you go to law school and how would you characterize your experience? I hear it is not exactly the 3 best years of your life. Good luck studying for the bar.

Hey all,
I am currently a WH intern and it is great! I hope some of you get it. I have commiserated with many of you during the summer but I wanted to change my name for security reasons. :)

Jlee–that’s awesome! What office are you working in?

I work in Scheduling and Advance. It is awesome to see work on all the trips that the President takes and read all the letters he receives. I have met some senior WH staff and will be going to some press conferences in the WH. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The internship coordinator said that the Fall is not as competitive as the summer so I am sure a lot of you will do well! :)

I was hoping that might be the case! I figured that when they extended the deadline to apply that maybe that was a good sign that they still wnated more people to apply. Keep your fingers crossed for me and put in a good word–I mean, we do go way back to last week! Have a great experience–that is SOOOOO awesome!

I applied for the White House Internship for the Fall on 5/29, and today I received this e-mail from the White House Intern Team…

Dear Applicant:

You have been recommended for a departmental interview for the 2009 Fall White House Internship. You will potentially be receiving an email regarding a phone interview in the next couple of days. Please reply to this email and send us your DOB and SSN as soon as possible so we can begin a preliminary security check.

Thanks so much!

I take it this is good news?

I got the same e-mail earlier today. I don’t know exactly what it means–but it definitely has to be good! It’s a little cryptic with the “you will potentially be receiving…” but I’ll take it!

What offices did you apply for?

Very exciting!

My office choices were:

1) Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA)
2) Office of Management and Administration
3) Office of Political Affairs
4) Office of Energy and Climate
5) Office of Health Reform
6) Domestic Policy Council
7) Office of Public Liason and Intergovernmental Affairs
8) Office of Cabinet Affairs
9) Office of White House Counsel
10) Office of the Cheif of Staff

Good luck to you!

And to you! This whole thing is very exciting!

Hi y’all,

Thanks for creating this thread. I, too, got the “potential interview” email. Have you guys heard back yet?

My boyfriend also got a “potential interview” and he sent in his DOB and SSN yesterday, but hasn’t heard back yet. I, on the other hand, have heard nothing! So you’all are in a far better position than me.

I imagine he’ll hear something later this week.

What offices did everyone apply for? His top pick is legislative affairs, and mine is Scheduling and Advance.

I’m a law student (Stanford) so I went for WH counsel’s office, but also have a fair amount of campaign experience, so my next choices were political and legislative affairs.

So you would be taking a semester off to work there in the fall? That’s great if Stanford lets you do that! What year law student are you?

This makes me nervous! I hope I get that email…

Can everyone who got it write the order of offices and when they sent in their apps + got their application confirmations?

Stanford has an externship program that allows for this. I applied on the original end of may due date and got a confirmation over that weekend. I applied for pretty much all of the offices with the exceptions of management, advance, and a couple others. I’m a rising 3L

I suppose if you got this email that means you will probably get in and if you didn’t you probably won’t right? Dang oh well, I knew the chances would be slim…

I hope not! I am still holding out hope that we will hear something before the first week in July!

hey guys,

just had an interview for the communications dept over the phone (after getting that same e-mail asking for my DOB and SSN, then getting a call the next day). did anyone else get one of these? the interview seemed pretty basic – he just asked what i thought of obama, whether i was OK with working early hours, etc, then said they’d probably give me a call next week. wondering if i’m still competing against a bunch of people or this means i’m getting pretty close.

fingers crossed! and good luck to everyone else :)
