White House Internship

me…
thats why I asked if you guys got in on the 1st or second deadline.
Also, to the folks who got one, did you apply previously? Could it be that they want to look at your previous application records?

I highly doubt they sent out emails requesting more information because they wanted to compare current applications to previous ones. First of all, they’d have the old applications on record. Second, I got an email and this is my first time applying.

you never know… they DID ask for a resending of resumes after they had already received them.

anything is a possibility at the moment

I’ve applied before. I received an email yesterday and got an interview today. Was pretty exciting! Best of luck to everyone.

I applied before, got an e-mail and interview. No word this time though. Hoping it’s because they already have my SSN on record, but we’ll see.

Intern2000, did you get an e-mail last time, too? And congratulations btw!

Thx! Congrats to you as well! When was your interview? Who interviewed you? And I got a different email asking for the same info last time.

Congrats Intern2000! What department interviewed you?

Thanks Porfilio! And I got an interview from the White House Communications Department

i also got an interview. anyone have any idea what to expect??

i assume this is a good thing, but do any of you know (maybe from applying in the past or knowing someone who did, or just from reading this forum) what the odds are that you’ll get the job if you get an interview?

good luck to everyone else!

Congrats dc1080! You chances are definitely higher if you got an interview, especially if you did well.

What department interviewed you?

thanks porfilio—I have a phone interview tomorrow with the WH communications department; crossing my fingers that it will go well.

I have been sifting through this message board looking for any hints as to what type of questions to prepare for. anyone have any ideas?

As it turns out, I was granted an interview myself. I’ve got one scheduled tomorrow with the Visitors Office…

I got a email and a phone call about my availability and hours from a department at the white house. And then last week I got the same email about resending our ss info again. But nothing about an interview. what do you guys think that means?

I feel like every office does their own thing in getting applicants. That seems to be the common theme in all the past posts.
if you got some form of communication, then i feel like you are probably on the road to getting an internship. it does appear as if only a few offices have been contacting applicants, as shown by responses here. But just because you didn’t get an interview request does not mean you are out of the running…

Word on the street is that the Office of Political Affairs is doing interviews today.

So, based on all that we know so far, the following offices have started interviews:

 • Communications
 • Visitors Office
 • Political Affairs

Anyone hear from any other offices?

I was interviewed last week by the office of public engagement.

From what I know, the white house has no set procedure to offer internships. While getting an interview is always a good sign, I have always heard of individuals who never received an interview, and were still offered an internship. So those that havent heard back yet, there is still hope!

How long were your guys’ interviews?
Did they say when they would let you know by?

Also, I think the person that interviewed us will give a recommendation to his/her boss, and that person will pass the message along. Just a wild guess. Good luck everyone!

I agree Intern 2000, that’s similar to what I was told. My interview was a little over 10 min and I was informed they would touch base in about a week. When did they say they would get back to you?

Good luck to all! : )

My interviewer merely said, “we will stay in touch.” I was to nervous to ask more questions. Lets see what happens.

I hope not hearing anything isn’t necessarily bad. I got an interview last session with Scheduling and Advance, but haven’t heard anything about this time around. I’m a little bummed since I made it to the interview stage last time and my application was definitely better this time around and no word.
