I’m doing communications – it was my first choice. 2. Domestic Policy 3. Office of the First Lady

Can’t wait to meet you guys!!!

I did get a phone call. I was on the airplane, and I finally decided to check my voicemail and heard the message. Ha ha ha. I’m in the Office of the First Lady!!!

girl101: Did you get my messgae? I am still learning how to navigate this site…

Did you all hear about this? A girl stripped of her White House internship? I wonder why…

[Stripped of White House internship, Kennedy-King student wonders why | Chicago News, Events and Culture | Chi-Town Daily News](http://www.chitowndailynews.org/Chicago_news/Stripped_of_White_House_internship_KennedyKing_student_wonders_why,26791)

Yeah-- I heard about it when I first applied, but after spending half of the day with the paperwork, I think I know what might have happened

what are you guys doing for housing?

also, any idea when we can expect more information on the internship (if at all) from the WH, other than the emails we’ve gotten so far?

ok so after looking around the web, here are some options for housing in DC for the spring:
Washington Intern Student Housing
[WISH

General info about renting in DC
NMAH | Intern’s Housing Guide](http://www.internsdc.com/about.php)

The washington Center ( they sometimes rent spaces to out of program students, so give them a try)

I’ve been contacting alumni in DC to see if they know of low-cost options-- a few have offered to house me themselves…

anyone not hear from their “buddy” yet?

So, extremely late reply. But, I’m interning also!

Sorry to intrude, but I’m looking at this internship for the summer.

Just how crazy competitive is it to get an internship? Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks.

^ seconds inquiry.

P.S. Any thoughts on how a moderate Republican (more like a libertarian) would fit in with the current WH? I’m assuming they don’t just take hardcore Dems, but I’d still appreciate hearing from past interns who didn’t necessarily share the ideology of their given administration.

Hey there everyone, let me start by congratulating those who have already received their responses for this past year. I have read the entire thread and I have learned plenty from all the posts.

The application for Summer 2010 is now open and I am getting all my paperwork together. Any advice from those who got the internship? From those who didn’t?

Has anyone seen the current application, any comments? Apart from the fact that they mispelled a few words! LOL They are asking us to write a Memo to the President or First Lady–how unique is that? I just dont get whether the Memo should be requesting something or highlighting a specific topic–any ideas?

^ As in, a policy memo. HTH.

SH, in a few pages back, some of us talked about the topics of our memos.

Also, I think the summer internship is the most competitive of all internship terms, since most students have the summers free as compared to spring or fall. One number I saw cited in a school newspaper said that over 4,000 people applied for summer intern positions last year-- with somewhere between 100-200 chosen.

I imagine, though, that some of the campaign fervor will subside and the number will substantially decrease for this summer’s application process. Good luck!!

Hi all! I’m new to the thread, and seriously considering applying for the summer internship. I plan on applying to it each “season” (I’m a senior in college) until I either give up or get too old! So nerdy I know, but to intern at the WH has always been my dream!! Congrats to those who got in for Spring 2010! Make the most out of it!!

I’m considering applying to the Domestic Policy Council since my boss from my internship last summer now works there. Haven’t yet decided whether to apply or not because I’m considering some other things for the summer and wouldn’t want to get the internship and have to turn it down…

Anyway, for people considering applying and wondering about the policy memo, an MIT professor posted a pretty good guide: http://ocw.mit.edu/NR/rdonlyres/Urban-Studies-and-Planning/11-479Spring-2005/EE48BAB0-592F-4230-9290-12FD54F6CEDD/0/pmwriting.pdf

Is there anyone here who had the internship last summer and can comment on the experience? Did anyone work for the Domestic Policy Council?

I’m a high school senior. do I have any chance of getting this internship?
