I just submitted my application for the Summer 2010 internship.

I’m double…triple checking the mini essays I wrote and will upload my application Friday. I’m very excited. If I don’t get in this time around I wonder if I will apply for the Fall? Good luck to everyone.

Hey when you submitted your application online for the White House Internship, did any of you get a confirmation email or anything? just wondering :)

yeah i got a confirmation email couple days later, all three of my recommenders emailed me saying they sent it but only got 2 confirmation emails hopefully i get that last one soon the anxiety is building

DCSPORTSFAN, I had the same problem. Just emailed them confirming that they received three letters.

Has anyone heard about interviews? I submitted my application on Dec 28. Im thinking that ppl should be hearing about interviews sometime after the application deadline

thanks slevy i got the confirmation, so everything is in and its time to sit and wait, ,doe anyone know what aspect of the application is weighed most significantly? I would like to assume its the essays or the recs and not trivial questions like your favorite song.

I gave the greatest attention to the essays and the life goals.

@DCSPORTSFAN I was speaking to a career counselor at my university the other day about the questions on the application and he told me that they seem like “interview questions” and they may ask you to go into detail if you get a phone interview; but reading older post on this thread they didn’t. Who knows for sure.

I’ve been reading over this site for a while. I’m very nervous though about this internship. I think my resume is enough with all the volunteering but how much do you think they rely on the letters of rec?

I put the most effort into them, I got my state senates minority leader, one of my US senators, and my states attorney general to write mine.

@Oklahoma22…wow. did you work for all those ppl?

Hi all! I am considering applying for the Summer 2010 White House Internship… but I have no idea where to start! I am currently an intern at the US EPA, which has been a great experience. I have so many questions about the white house internship! Anyone want to give me a basic rundown? Is it too late to apply for summer (the deadline is Feb 7th!) and should I just wait and apply for fall? I am graduating this spring.

I am especially interested in the office of energy and climate! Has anyone else worked in this office? Since the position is unpaid, how are you expecting to cover the costs? It there a resource somewhere with info from students who have done this internship? I tried reading all the posts in this thread… but there are over 1000!

Thank you for any info/advice!

@slevy788. I worked for 2 of them. The minority state senate leader ran for US senate, and lost, but I meet him and I’m in pretty good contact with him still from that campaign.

The attorney general is currently running for governor and I’ve been interning for his campaign the past about 7 months.

The US senator I’ve meet a few times and write his office often. Plus I know one of his assistants so they helped me get in on that letter.

Does anyone know how long it takes for them to accept or deny people?

@TrendqueenDC I think the website says April 7th.

@kellenm thank you, I guess I missed that.

does anyone know how many ppl applied for this upcoming summer internship?

no, not sure matt…they extended the deadline until the 21st…so who knows?

Hey guys, anybody have some last minute tips for the application? I am a freshman in college and my resume doesn’t really stand out yet. I just need awesome essays…

Hey guyz! I’ve applied for the Summer 2010 internship and got the confirmation email. So waiting for their response. Best luck to all those who applied! :)

has anyone heard anything yet? interviews?
