I refuse to give up hope WH2010, but I haven’t received what seems to be the integral ‘vitals’ e-mail, nor have I been contacted for an interview. Are my dreams of a summer in the White House officially dashed, or should I cling to a few last shreds of sunny optimism?

Post-post afterthought: It seems silly to ask someone whom I suspect of working at the White House whether or not it is worth it to “know hope.” Still, any informative answer would be greatly appreciated.

TheDoctor: I suggest you read previous posts in this thread. They’re very informative, and can help alleviate some stress brought on by the uncertainty of the application process.

And I don’t think you should give up hope. There have been several examples of applicants receiving their vitals email later than others. I mentioned before that someone was rejected, and then interviewed & accepted when a spot opened up. Don’t give up until you officially hear from the White House. And even then, you can apply for the fall or spring internship, which are far less competitive. If you can’t wait, you can always call the internship office and ask. 202-456-1414. Good luck!

Hello, I am new to posting on this site but it seems to be very informative regarding the application process. I am also a hopeful without any good news so far. Thanks WH2010 for the useful info. I will be crossing my fingers along with The Doctor! :)

fromage22, did you get the vitals email?

lma2010 & cdog08: have either of you received interviews?

Anyone get any more updates?

Thanks WH2010 for all the great information! Still hopeful lol

Hey WH2010!! I recieved the “Vital Email” so I guess that is good. I know that you said that everyone that has gotten the internship in the past has also gotten the vital email, however have people gotten the vital email and not the internship?

Oh yeah and I have not gotten a call for an interview… yet.

Got the “vitals” email and then an interview with the office of personnel but was wondering if anyone had heard back yet or if people knew if you called the internship office what they were willing to tell you regarding your status

has anyone gotten calls from multiple offices? - just curious

@joshuawp, my interviewer told me that we would know “within 2 or 3 weeks” – that was on the 26th. But on the internship site, it says that we will find out during the week of April 5th. Also, I was only contacted by one office (OPA).

Hi WH2010 and thank you for all of the helpful information. I applied to work in the Office of Presidential Correspondence as apart of the new program that allows students on the quarter system to apply and although I received the “vitals” e-mail I am still waiting anxiously to be invited to interview.

They’re willing to tell you that you’ll know by April 5th -__-

But if you want to call and see for yourself, I actually found the direct number to the Internship Program, it’s (202) 456 5979. I don’t know if they’ll be able to do anything, but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Btw, I got the vitals email but no interview. Guess that’s a bad thing =/

Got the vitals email exactly 1 week ago, but no interview yet which doesn’t seem like a good thing.

Has anyone heard from the Domestic Policy Council? I was really hoping to work with the Social Innovation and Civic Participation group…

Got the vitals email and ambush phone interview. Lasted 15 min or so. Now just waiting. Anyone have any idea how many people get interviews or how many interviewees get cut?

For those of you that had a phone interview, when was it?

WH2010, do you have any information on nighttime “volunteer” positions? I have a friend who said she wasn’t given an internship last year, but a volunteer position at night with the Office of Correspondence. Do you think they do interviewing for this the same way they interview for a daytime internship? or, does this even exist?

WH1234, I believe those who were very close to getting an internship will get an email from the Office of Correspondence for the opportunity to apply as White House volunteers. You should receive this in the same email with your status.

ZoomZoomZoom, how’d it go?

what is the difference between white house volunteers and interns?
