This is awful! Really? We have to wait til monday?

I’m in your boat Tempest1…I got a great job for the summer, but I can’t sign the contract until I find out about this. What is the vitals e-mail that some of you guys got?

It asked for confirmation of basic information like DOB, SSN, availability, phone number, etc.

Nothing at all more than that.

Well at least this means we still have a few days to hope! :)

…but if we are assuming that only people who got an email asking for vitals made it to the next round… why didnt the white house contact the people they didnt ask vitals for at the same time and tell them that they weren’t accepted… its not adding any extra time becuase they have to send those emails eventually either way and it would save the rejected interns the unnecessary stress of waiting… during finals period no less.

This point might have already been brought up and I’m sorry to be repetitive if it was…

From what I can piece together, the vitals email was merely to correct errors they had in their computer system. Some people reported receiving their recommendation confirmations shortly after sending back the vitals email.

No vitals email and no interview here but I’m still hopeful. We shall see. I could be eating my words in a few days.

the same reason most colleges select a specific day to notify all of their applicants…

valid point. but colleges also dont randomly contact people for information implying that you are more likely to get in. plenty of internship programs have cuts along the way, particularly if there is security clearance involved.
i promise i am not trying to be combative. just thinking out loud :)

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time the WH has not notified applicants of acceptance or at least a formal extension by the Friday of the designated week.

@graduatingnow They do the security clearance once you get in.

Hey,

I just got an acceptance call for the White House CEQ. I’ll be heading up to DC in mid-May. If any of you get in and are interested in possibly getting a place together let me know.

Also, don’t sweat it if you haven’t heard back yet. I’m pretty sure the White House CEQ has its own people conduct its application process, so the notification dates may be different.

Good luck.

They called your this late in the evening?

anything to anyone else?

Congratulations on being accepted! I’m really glad to hear that someone’s been accepted :)

As Sachin J alluded to, the CEQ internship program is completely separate from the White House internship program. From CEQ’s internship FAQ page:

“Are the CEQ Intern Programs a part of the White House Intern Program?
While the two programs and their interns work closely with one another, the CEQ Intern Program is separate from the White House Intern Program.”

So, congratulations to Sachin J, but this has no bearing on anyone else re: decisions.

Has anyone heard anything today?

Noooooooo…patiently waiting!

Monday is probably the day.

Clearly I am getting more and more impatient as the time goes by. sigh. If they said the week of April 5th, then wouldn’t that week end on the 11th? Monday would be considered the week after April 5th, right?

Yeah I’m impatient too and want to hear, NOW! Although the White House is, well, the White House, and is understandably extremely busy, having not heard from them by this point is just absurd. Running late or extending notification dates is acceptable; not notifying us of said delay or extension is not. Let’s hope we hear tomorrow. Otherwise who knows when we’ll hear.

I’m with graduating now… They have to thrown a third (or maybe even 50%) of our applications in the proverbial trash weeks ago and they would have literally thousands of applicants a lot of anxiety by sending out a rejection email to a significant population of applicants earlier on.

Not to mention that it 50% of us were already rejected, the office would’ve gotten a lot fewer annoying calls this week asking what exactly “the week of April 5th” meant.

In other words, less hassle for both us and them.
