What you get for the additional $150…

-Updated screen
-Unibody aluminum case
-Firewire 800
-SD slot
-Backlit keyboard
-DDR3 RAM
-Upgraded [non-removable] battery with much longer life (both per charge, and number of cycles)
-.13ghz faster processor
-Capability of handling 8gb of RAM

Edit - In before the Mac v. PC debate begins!

Also, you can get a rebate for a free I touch or I pod and $100 towards a printer. we bought the Mac Book pro, with the I touch which we are selling for $195, and the $99 printer for free.

I’d go with the Pro. $150 for much better features!

The Macbook Pro.

Better feature set and the unibody design is more durable, imo. The white Macbook cases are prone to tiny hairline cracks at the palmrest.

Re #5

As far as I know, the new polycarbonate MacBooks do not suffer from hairline cracks.

Supplies are limited, but if you don’t mind a refurbished label, you can get the previous-generation 13.3" unibody MacBook for $949. It has the same warranty as a new 13.3" MacBook Pro. According to one of my friends who bought a uMB before the WWDC announcement, there’s no noticeable difference in speed between the two.

You probably won’t need the slightly faster specs, but it may be worth the money if the Pro has a nicer screen, better construction, or nicer keyboard.

And there’s the cosmetic factor: personally I think the two-tone color scheme on the Pro is ugly.
