Whitman College v. U of Washington Honors Program

I have been accepted to both schools.
I am having a difficult time deciding on which college to attend.
Both UW honors program and Whitman College are appealing.

For your information, if it matters at all,
I am Asian male who intend to major in business.
At Whitman, I am looking at the combined program for engineering.

Please, give me any opinions you have!
Thank you.

They are just so totally different.
If you do the combined engineering program, what happens if you love Whitman too much to leave? Is there a major there that would fit your life plans?

I have one daughter who is a UW grad. Loved her department, but never got involved in the rest of the university. (She didn’t start there as a freshman). Wonderful research opportunities, happy now at another U for PhD program.
The other one is an undergrad at Whitman. Knows kids from all programs and from all parts of the world. Also doing (published) research. Not as sure of her final goal, but that’s the kid, not the school.
Both are great choices.

Trying to think of a good analogy - Guiness vs microbrew? Mercedes vs. (there is no small craft car company…) Big City vs small, friendly and trendy town?

Interesting fact: the President of Whitman was previously in charge of the UW Honors Program.

I go to Whitman, and much as I think it’s a great school, you should go to UW if you plan to major in business. We don’t have a Business major. (We do have an Economics major, though.) If you think you want to go with the combined engineering program, that’s a great option. You’ll get some solid rigorous classes here and have the opportunity to top off your degree somewhere else (and maybe get a masters with that).

I’d recommend visiting both places and seeing which one is most compelling for you. If you’ve already visited, revisiting may help, too.
