who are the ones that decide the art major applicants?

Hi guys!
I applied to UCLA Design|Media Arts for 2010 Fall (transfer student)

"Primary consideration for admission will be given to each applicant's portfolio"
This is what I found from the DMA website.

Ok. now Here`s the question.
Since the school of art and arch. requires the supplemental application (e.g. portfolio, personal statement), who are the ones that decide the applicants?

Professors from the school of art and arch.?
or UCLA admission faculties?

What if both of their decisions was not in accordance?
Do they call each other and change the decision too?
For instance..from the Professors of DMA..
he calls to the admission center then ask,

"I want him to be accepted"

could be both, we did had to submit 2 personal statements to the UC system and had to submit another personal statement, supplemental app, and portfolio. they say they want to see the person as a whole, but to get into the design program, I guess its based on portfolio and personal statement.

for 2009, about 160 transfer student applied and only 8 got accepted.

Hi Samjogo. Another DMA applicant!
haha I remember your nickname coz you have posted before.

Do you think the department going to send some kind of open house invitation letters
to the accepted applicants in March??
cause they did in 2006.

idk, but it would be great if they did that. send the admin counselor an email asking if they will do that this year.

Admission to School of Arts and Architecture is decided entirely within the school. The admissions office just hands the applications to them.
